Job Description Case Manager works semi-independently under the supervision of a Mental Health Professional in a highly competent and professional manner. Work involves a significant variety of non-routine tasks of moderate complexity which are guided by formal policies and general procedures. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of mental disorders and substance abuse issues
Effective counseling skills,
Ability to assess and teach independent living skills,
Good interpersonal communication skills and
Basic computer skills
Prefer knowledge of Pierce County public mental health system, criminal justice system, community resources, and recovery-based and trauma-informed models of care.
Well-developed skills in managing time, priorities, and paperwork; excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and the ability to collaborate effectively with external partners
Understanding of the importance of clear, professional boundaries, and maintenance of such
Cultural competency
Education and/or Experience Requires a High School diploma/GED and 1-year relevant experience. An Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred. Other combinations of education and experience that provide the required familiarity and skills may be considered. Must be eligible for a Washington State Department of Health Agency Affiliated Counselor. Must be or commit to becoming certified as a Peer Counselor by the State Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery within one year of employment (see below). Peer Counselor Requirements:
Self-identify as a consumer who is receiving or has received mental health services.
Demonstrate having been well-grounded in mental health recovery for at least one year.
Pass a WA State criminal background check (no recent serious convictions).
Complete specialized training approved by the State of WA and passing a written and oral State exam. The training and exam are free.
Additional Information: Salary Range: Min $19.67 - Max $28.31
