BEDI Partnerships is Hiring a Senior Financial Analyst, Consumer Near San Francisco, CA

This hybrid position requires two days per week in our San Francisco office.

About our role:

Udemy is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, based in San Francisco, CA, and reporting to the Senior Director, Consumer FP&A. You will be a key member of the Consumer & Marketing FP&A team, and serve as a key interface between Finance and our stakeholders. You will monitor actual performance against the budget, and partner directly with the business to update and report on our forecasts. You will also bring best practices and thoughtful approaches to modeling the short-term and long-term business forecast. This is a highly visible role within Udemy, and works cross-functionally to prepare timely and accurate forecasts, along with participating in special projects. While this role is primarily focused on the Consumer segment, you will also be exposed to the Enterprise segment and work with key business leaders to drive the overall Udemy business forward.

About you:

You roll up your sleeves and take pride and ownership of your work. You are able to dive deeply into the details but still maintain perspective of the big picture and Udemy’s strategic goals. You can take complicated and technical information and break it down into simple, actionable insights for our business partners. You enjoy working cross-functionally and providing routine and ad hoc support. You are humble and curious, and you have a desire to learn and grow in your role and career.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with leaders and organizations supporting the Consumer business (e.g., Marketing, Product, Analytics, etc.) to uncover actionable insights on business performance.
  • Update revenue models for both the transactional marketplace and subscription products.
  • Own core FP&A activities related to Udemy’s Marketing organization, including the management of budgets, updating forecasts, and the review and approval of purchase orders.
  • Manage month-end close processes with Accounting, including the review of invoices and journal entries, and the preparation of accruals.
  • Prepare financial reviews and insights for company leadership, including budget vs. actuals analysis and monthly & quarterly business reviews, and other ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Partner with Marketing leaders to manage their budget and minimize variances.
  • Work with the Corporate FP&A team to consolidate and report on company financials.
  • Drive the annual planning process and collaborate with our key stakeholders.
  • Identify process and systems improvement opportunities.

We're excited about you because you'll have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Finance or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of what drives a high-growth business (either B2B or D2C, or both!)
  • 4-7 years of progressive, relevant experience (FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, etc.)
  • Exceptional financial modeling capabilities with experience with both top-line (GMV, billings, revenue), and expenses.
  • Experience preparing professional presentations for a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • An ability to manage multiple projects with a thoughtful level of attention.
  • Understanding of GAAP revenue and expense recognition standards.
  • Strong systems aptitude and expert-level proficiency in Excel and Google Suite (experience with Adaptive and Tableau a plus!)

We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company. Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!

Life at Udemy

We aspire to be as vibrant and dynamic as the communities we serve, as inquisitive as those who use our platform, and as revolutionary as the future we strive to open for everyone. Here are some of the things we love about life at Udemy:

  • We’re invested in creating an inclusive environment that welcomes a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. From creating employee resource groups, ensuring we’re a Fair Pay Workplace, and building a flexible work culture, our belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI) initiatives always put our people first. We want you to be able to bring your authentic self to work because when we all do, we’re better for it.

  • Learning is what we do – inside and out. Our Learning & Development team is second to none, helping ensure your journey is one of continuous progression. You’ll also have unlimited access to Udemy courses, monthly UDays (meeting-free professional development days), and a generous annual professional development stipend.

  • Our reason to exist is to revolutionize learning – that calls for taking risks and learning from failures. Whether it’s our hackathons (a company-wide effort to envision new possibilities for our product) or sharing our prototypes, we see experimentation as a crucial step on the path to success.

  • We’re committed to creating world-class employee experiences and are proud of the recognition of this by Great Place to Work.

Of course, the best thing about being part of Udemy is knowing your work makes a difference for people and organizations around the world. You’ve got the skills; why not use them to help others develop theirs?
