Position Summary

The Veteran Program Manager (VPM) is responsible for identifying, developing, and obtaining new opportunities for Veteran/Military to support the construction craft professional growth within North America, including conceptual programming, social media development and content management, detailed reporting, and strategic new hiring initiatives. The Military programming has a national remit and is focused on the successful recruitment and hiring of veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for developing veteran hiring and retention strategies to support projects in North America.
  • Identify opportunities for long-term military and veteran organization relationships, alliances and partnerships, and stay involved in a prospective project’s lifecycle
  • Develop relationships with project stakeholders, including customer relations
  • Ensure that the program meets company guidelines by screening prospects, developing a pursuit & win strategy, coordinating events, identifying, and analyzing risk versus outcome potential, and communicating customer needs and expectations to the leadership team
  • Liaise with other departments as appropriate in relation to execution, HR, legal, commercial, or other functional teams to support veteran recruiting development and prospect lifecycle
  • Foster and develop positive customer relationships which result in increased hiring and retention
  • Provide important customer information regarding issues and needs to support the military & veteran programming lead in a timely fashion, and assist in managing pre-event costs
  • Develop and implement social media strategy and content to expand general program knowledge and specific recruiting information
  • Screen recruits for hiring potential and relay candidates to company/team recruiter
  • Perform general functions inherent in managerial positions including budget control and reporting, and organizational analysis.
  • Directs and actively participates in planning effective marketing plans, hiring events and general knowledge opportunities to reach targeted demographic prospects in his/ her purview
  • Keeps informed of up-to-date veteran hiring statistics, trends and current site hiring needs
  • Keeps aware of the veteran hiring development activity and strategy of competitors, including their social media trends and approaches
  • Develops targeted and compelling marketing materials aligned with military program’s strategies and supporting current veteran hiring initiatives
  • Research and develop retention strategies and plans for military and veteran hires


Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years previous working experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Previous working experience with veterans programs
  • Knowledge of and experience of project execution and company hiring objectives
  • Ability to present company capabilities and services to customers
  • Experienced social media strategy and content creation in previous roles
  • Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations senior management
  • Experience in preparation of event plans, shaping, targeting, pursuit and capture of potential recruits preferred
  • Self-directed, requires limited daily supervision or guidance
  • Ability to influence internally without direct authority with strong covenant-based behavior


Additional Qualifications

  • Works well with teams and other departments
  • Responsive to internal and external customers with consistent follow-up and follow-through
  • Applicable prior experience in veteran serving roles with experience working on complex issues
  • Extensive experience in social media strategy, event planning, risk assessment, and digital marketing
  • Ability to assess intangible variables, identify and evaluate fundamental issues and provide strategy and direction for major functional area
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong data and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
