Our original Brooklyn location opened in 2018. We now have locations in Atlanta and Washington D.C. We've hosted over 300,000 players including hundreds of corporate team building outings, school groups, and non-profit organizations. Beat The Bomb is one of the highest rated experiences in all 3 markets. We offer a full range of special event services including STEM Camps, Kid and Adult Birthday parties, Corporate Tournaments, and Bachelorette parties. We also have a virtual team building platform called Beat The Bomb Virtual serving remote teams across the globe. Our #1 goal is to ensure every player has a BLAST! Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Beat The Bomb is growing fast and needs to take its accounting and financial processes to the next level. Having finalized its Series B fundraising, the Company is preparing to open another 7 locations by the end of 2025 (reaching a total of 10) and continue to scale beyond that to 100 locations globally by 2030. We are looking for a Controller with experience in the restaurant or location-based entertainment industries to manage our Accounting, Tax, and FP&A functions. This person will report to the President and work closely with all senior management across the business. This is an amazing opportunity for somebody looking to step into a leadership role with a lot of room for growth and the ability to build an in-house team over the coming years. A focus on implementing efficient best practices for scale will be a critical focus. Must be willing to get in the weeds and be hands-on in the early days!
Developing, maintaining and managing all internal accounting, expense and finance related processes
Developing efficient internal controls and approval processes
Managing efficient Period closing process
Overseeing cash forecasting and treasury management
Managing external accounting and bookkeeping partners
Managing outside tax and audit firms
Developing and managing financial planning and budgeting processes, including supporting General Managers with location level budgeting and variance analysis to drive improvements
Collaborating with GMs on weekly labor forecasting
Collaborating closely with head of Procurement on developing efficient purchasing and asset management
Supporting management team with ad hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives and identifying ongoing revenue opportunities and cost efficiencies
Conducting detailed analysis of our payment processes, credit card fees, dispute trends and other transactional costs
Implementing a vision for a lean and mean in-house finance team to build self-sufficiency over the coming years
Managing our ERP System. We are currently finalizing a plan to migrate from Quickbooks Online to Netsuite
Working closely with Tech team and outside consultants as needed on ongoing integration needs
Preparing and presenting financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management and external stakeholders (Board and investors)
Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and company policies in all financial activities
Evaluating external tools to further automate and add efficiencies to our processes
Building a network of industry professionals and resources to stay in the loop on best practices and tools for finance and accounting
Qualifications:
7-10 years of Accounting experience in a similar industry with multi-unit, multi-state operations (entertainment, restaurant, hotel, hospitality) and 2-3 years as a Manager/Director level or Controller
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field. MBA and/or CPA a plus
Experience with Netsuite and ERP implementation processes is a major plus
Strong analytical skills with intermediate / advanced abilities using Google Sheets/Excel
Process oriented and highly organized
Ability to create clean and organized analyses and present business-oriented takeaways & exec summaries
Experience with 4-4-5 reporting period structure
Working knowledge of GAAP
Comfortable building scalable and efficient processes while staying entrepreneurial and scrappy
