BDR is seeking a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist to join our growing team! This position will be performed virtually from the individual’s home office working on EST time schedule. This position requires US Citizenship with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Role Overview:
We are actively seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our Software Development and Support program, utilizing ServiceNow’s Enterprise Service Management (ESM) platform for a high-profile Federal agency. This role is essential for creating, maintaining, and enhancing documentation that supports the development, implementation, and ongoing support of software solutions. The ideal candidate will not only be responsible for producing user-friendly manuals, guides, and documentation but also for developing and delivering key program artifacts, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. This position requires a collaborative approach to work closely with project teams, an ability to understand complex technical concepts, and exceptional writing skills to ensure all documentation and reports are accurate, comprehensive, and accessible.
Responsibilities:
  • Documentation and Report Creation: Generate detailed documentation for software applications, such as user manuals, installation guides, and release notes, along with timely weekly, monthly, and quarterly program reports that highlight progress, achievements, and milestones.
  • Collaborative Information Gathering: Collaborate with software developers, project managers, and technical teams to collect necessary information on system functionalities, updates, and program metrics for accurate and informative documentation and reports.
  • Quality Assurance and Editing: Ensure all technical documents and reports are of high quality, adhering to grammatical standards, technical accuracy, and organizational style guides.
  • Content Management and Feedback Integration: Manage documentation and report repositories for optimal user access and incorporate user and stakeholder feedback to improve the usefulness and clarity of all materials produced.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a background check and receive a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience.
  • 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft’s Office Suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • ITIL v3 and or ITIL V4 Certification(s) is highly desirable.
  • ServiceNow Certification(s) in any modality is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with technical concepts is a plus.
  • Experience in Technical Writing and Reporting: Proven track record of technical writing in software development settings, with a specific focus on developing and delivering program artifacts such as reports.
  • Technical Savvy: Familiarity with ServiceNow’s ESM platform or similar technologies, with a keen ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts and translate them into user-friendly content.
  • Strong Communication and Detail Orientation: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, coupled with an unparalleled attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and clarity of documentation and reports.
  • Effective Project Management: Excellent organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality documentation and timely reports.
  • Preferred experience in federal projects and familiarity with federal documentation standards.
