Bay Alarm Company is Hiring a Fire Alarm Designer II Near Petaluma, CA
- Assist branch sales personnel in the design and layout of access control, burglar, CCTV, and fire alarm systems. Provide technical support for the layout of systems, the selection of proper equipment, and the estimation of the required labor costs to complete the project. Assist in the completion of large system proposals. Prepare plans for the direct submittal to drafting for the completion of shop drawings. This position will require driving.
- Layout the access control, burglar, CCTV, and fire alarm systems.
- Conduct field surveys for proper equipment use, labor, and design.
- Determine the use and needs for system take-overs and tenant improvements.
- Provide equipment list and technical oversight in the production of large system proposals.
- Obtain bids for labor from contractors.
- Mark-up plans for installation and production of shop drawings.
- Responsible for the design of automatic fire alarm systems.
- Apply codes and AHJ requirements to the design process.
- All other miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned.
- 1-2 years experience required, 3-5 years preferred.
- 1-2 years post-high school education required.
- Diploma from a 2-year post-high school institution preferred.
- Very basic knowledge of NFPA and UL fire/burg standards preferred.
- A clear understanding of Bay Alarm installation practices and procedures preferred.
- Moderate understanding of current Bay Alarm Fire systems, including DMP Firelite and Notifier products preferred.
- Basic ability to interpret building blueprints.
- Ability to estimate the labor required while accomplishing a given task.
- Understanding of current Bay Alarm CCTV and access control systems preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Intermediate word processing and basic spreadsheet skills required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills required.
