Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary HR Director to join our team and lead our human resources department. The HR Director will play a pivotal role in shaping our organizational culture, driving employee engagement, and supporting our workforce. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with our company's values and objectives, ensuring that we continue to attract, retain, and develop top talent.

Work Schedule:

Full-Time Monday-Friday Evening and weekend work, out-of-town travel will occasionally be required. This classification is exempt from overtime under the FLSA.

PAY RANGE

$140,000.00 - $160,000.00 annual

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, interprets, maintains, and enforces policies and ensures compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to employment.
  • Plans, organizes, and leads HR initiatives to closely align with organizational goals, industry best practices, annual work plans, and state and federal employment laws.
  • Administers and oversees the day-to-day responsibilities for employee activities including recruitment and staffing for competitive employment and operational practices equal opportunity employment, classification studies, employee performance evaluations, employee record maintenance, disciplinary, and layoffs and terminations.
  • Coordinates and facilitates employee training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs. Supports and executes company-wide employee development, organizational development, professional development, succession planning and employee engagement and recognition programs.
  • Administers workers’ compensation; administers leave programs such as FMLA, Washington State leaves, non-occupational leave, disability, return-to-work and ADA-related requests.
  • Prepares compensation surveys and analyses, development of wage and compensation plans, as well as employee-employer relations; coordinates the employee benefit programs including health, vision, life, and employee assistance programs; Oversees employee benefits, including 401k deferred compensation plan.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and professional development to the HR team.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility and cost consciousness.

Knowledge of:

  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, codes and regulations related to assigned activities, including those laws/regulations governing employment practices, risk management, and benefit administration.
  • Administrative principles and practices, including program development, implementation, and evaluation, project management, and supervision of staff.

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Learn, read, interpret, and apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Maintain credibility with Human Resources staff, employees, supervisors, management, and executive management.
  • Work positively with others to accomplish the company’s mission and goals.
  • Use sound judgment in decision making and problem solving.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; work independently with little or no direction, set priorities and meet critical time deadlines. Use tact, initiative, prudence and independent judgment within general policy, procedural and legal guidelines.
  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM-SCP and/or HRCI-SPHR preferred.
  • 6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with a track record of developing and implementing HR strategies that drive business results.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Experience in the waste management or related industry is preferred but not required.
