Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is looking for a dedicated Director Of Employee Experience.

Position Summary

The Director, Employee Experience is responsible for implementing policies and programs to support talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, HRIS operations, learning and development, and total rewards. This responsibility is completed in conjunction with the Covenant Health System resources who support the implementation of strategies at the local level. Participates in the development of the Employee Experience strategic plan, by representing the needs and objectives of the local facility in alignment with the EX System Strategic Plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources Expertise and Leadership

  • Demonstrates an understanding of strategic and tactical Employee Experience functions and processes.
  • Serves as a member of the local leadership team, participating in meetings, and providing guidance for employment related matters.
  • Ability to development confidence and credibility with staff by maintaining confidentiality, providing sound guidance, exercising rational decision making, and demonstrating a fair and compassionate demeanor towards others.
  • Understands and aligns local and System strategic plans with tangible objectives and goals.
  • Is well versed in Covenant Health and BNRC policies and procedures and operates in a manner to support said policies.

Employee Relations

  • In conjunction with the leadership team, participate in employee and resident celebratory events to foster and maintain a positive workplace environment.
  • Prioritizes employee experience and engagement, collaborates with local and system leaders to execute on all local & system engagement initiatives.
  • Maintains effective relationships with internal and external union representatives and is responsible for ensuring the facilities compliance with governing Memorandums of Understanding and other labor agreements.
  • Effectively manage employee relations matters, assist managers and employees with this process by providing support to resolve grievances.
  • Oversees the employee performance management program, including annual reviews, career interviews, and progressive disciplinary action plans.
  • Applies applicable policies fairly and consistently across the organization while considering unique situations and assessment on a case by case basis.
  • Informs the System of elevated employment risk situations and potentially terminable offenses as a means to validate and confirm decision making prior to acting.

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and hiring manager teams to efficiently assist in the recruitment process.
  • Communicate vacancies, newly approved headcount, and reconcile open and filled requisitions on a consistent basis, follow up on initial candidate reviews and interview statuses with Talent Acquisition.
  • Ensure hiring managers are following a thoughtful and legal process to hire the best talent and are providing a “candidate centric” experience.
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition regarding new hire dates, employment documents, and details for a smooth new hire pre-onboarding experience.
  • Perform pre-onboarding activities including aspects of background checks, license verification, etc.

Total Rewards

  • Support and respond to employee inquiries about compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, accommodations, etc., and stay abreast of changes in and new policies, benefits, and employment law regulations.
  • Responsible for implementing the local annual Open Enrollment process, including but not limited to pre-OE announcements, providing support and responding to employee benefits questions, tracking OE completion results, and leveraging management to support the timely completion of OE activities.
  • Partner with Total Rewards by participating in market surveys, raising employee compensation and benefit matters timely, working through leave of absences, etc.
  • Responsible to understand and educate managers and employees about the expectations of Worker’s Compensation and manage the process to ensure the employees’ safe return to work.
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and complete/submit the annual OSHA 300 information by the deadline

Learning and Leadership Development

  • Provide and deliver a meaningful and thorough orientation for new hires, including the completion of assigned training through the LMS.
  • Support the annual system mandatory compliance training initiatives by assisting employees in completing the training timely.
  • Research and recommend additional training topics for the facility to promote employee growth and development, professionally and job related.
  • Generate reports in the LMS as needed, i.e., to identify employees who are not current with training requirements, etc.

Human Resources Operations

  • Responsible for the management of local Employee Experience functions and services for employees.
  • Understands business issues that are specific to the facility, demonstrates an awareness of the impact of human capital issues on the facility and how that relates to Covenant Health overall.
  • Maintain accurate and complete employment records in the HRIS and personnel files, leverage the HRIS for ad hoc and regulatory reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with Payroll for proper pay distribution, benefit and tax deductions, etc.

Job Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Human Resources certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Human Resources capacity
  • Experience in multiple Human Resources disciplines, i.e., recruitment, benefits, compensation, training, organizational development, labor relations, etc.
  • Comfortable working independently while having a team of human resources professionals available to you as resources

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated employment law knowledge and how to appropriately apply to human resources matters
  • HRIS knowledge, preferably with UKG, Oracle, or Workday
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a clear, thoughtful, and professional manner
  • Skilled in critical thinking to identify issues, determine the root cause, and effectively problem solve
  • Strong collaboration skills to develop onsite and offsite working relationships with colleagues and members of the community
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines, particularly related to payroll processing and report filings
  • Projects a professional demeanor and a customer service approach
