The Opportunity

The Vice President, Program Management, is a senior leader accountable forleading our program management competency. This position will also be responsible for portfolio optimizationfunctions within the Corporate Strategy organization.The VP, Program Management, willpartner closely with the CHRO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to implement initiatives in support of our organizational and decision-making models. This person will work across all functions including clinical development and operations,regulatory, medical affairs, commercial, technical development and operations, and human resources. They will participate on key governance committees in the organization.

What You Will Contribute

  • Develop and lead a best-in-industry program management function. Recruit and develop program and project managers
  • Be a role model: inspire team members to achieve ambitious goals, provide feedback and mentorship to drive high performance, build trust and respect across the team and its members, model corporate culture behaviors and support team members
  • Internally and externally communicate a shared, bold vision for our programs; exemplify and build a patient-centric program
  • Provide drug development and team leadership expertise, and apply program management best practices to advance all programs toward launchand product lifecyclemanagement
  • Serve as key contributor to corporate strategic planning processes, including setting strategic priorities, allocating resources, and establishing performance metrics to measure progress
  • Partner with human resources and other functions as an active agent for change, as required
  • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders on the status, objectives, risks, and mitigation plans associated with development programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including research and development, finance, and commercial, to prioritize projects based on strategic objectives, resources, and market opportunities
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to execute alliance projects, including scientific, development, technical operations and business development stakeholders
  • Monitor and evaluate alliance performance against established metrics, identifying areas for optimization and growth

What We Seek

  • PhD in life sciences or equivalent clinical development experience. Minimum of 15 years of drug development experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience, including experience managing complex programs or integrated projects
  • Five years leading a program management team with multiple direct reports, including experience through commercialization
  • Recognized subject matter expert in all aspects of drug development processes including experience managing global clinical development programs from IND/CTA through registrational trials
  • Team leadership through BLA/NDA/MAA filings and therapeutic launches
  • Experience in rare disease clinical development, obtaining regulatory approval and launch is desired
  • Proven experience in alliance management within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong understanding of alliance principles, processes, and best practices
  • A background in antibody delivery or siRNA is a plus
  • PMP preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent communication (oral and written), matrix leadership, stakeholderengagement, change management, leadership, integration, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel as needed up to 20%

What We will Provide to You:

  • The base salary range for this role is $292,500 - $323,200. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors.
  • Avidity offers competitive compensation and benefits, including annual and spot bonuses, stock options and RSUs, and a 401(k) with an employer match. In addition, the comprehensive wellness program includes coverage for medical, dental, vision, and LTD, and four weeks of time off.
