Technical/Functional Skills System Administration
Roles & Responsibilities Server Room and General Support:
• Provide ongoing System Administration, maintenance and support of local and remote servers
• Identify and address future needs to maintain operational readiness
• Provide hardware, networking and software support of High Performance Computing (HPC) server and desktops
• Work with vendors to install patches and upgrades
• Coordinate and elevate issues to Global IT to support local site needs
• Understand the unique needs of each site from modeling computers to large data storage
• Ability to make decisions on networking – ports and distribution
• Troubleshoot and resolve storage issues
• Coordinate with desk-side support and special engineering software admin
• Lab Hardware and Software Support:
• Provide diagnostic and problem solving support for standard/ OEM and custom equipment in the labs
• Support for connecting industrial equipment computers to the network
• Coordinate with lab equipment vendors to troubleshoot issues and install patches and upgrades
• Lead IT site audits and maintain inventory of all lab equipment and computers
• Help resolve Level 1 Networking issues (eg. connect patch cords, configure IPs) of lab equipment
• IT Security Support and Maintenance
• Maintain IT security software for all lab equipment
• Validate access control measures are current
