As an Avail Infrastructure Company, we’re small enough for your ideas to make an immediate impact and large enough to offer you opportunities to grow professionally at any stage of your career.JOB SUMMARYResponsible for inspection and identification of non-conforming product and workmanship in the fabrication and assembly (including electrical and painting) functions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects customer-supplied materials to ensure product received is in compliance with legend and drawings.
- Inspects all jobs in production at mandatory hold points to ensure work is being completed per company Policy and Procedures.
- Records job progression on checklist designed for Quality Assurance; assures correct materials are used as identified on outline/legend.
- Performs final inspection to assure the job is defined by the outline/legend and drawings,
- Assure procedures have been followed; verifies all material has been packed and identified on the packing list prior to shipment.
- Maintains complete and accurate records and documentation of test/inspection activities.
- Assists and or facilitates on continuous improvement programs.
- Coordinates with shop supervisors and engineering departments to correct quality problems and determine corrective actions.
- Supports the quality system and assist the QA Manager in updating and revising quality procedures and work instructions.
- HS diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the switchgear industry required.
- AWS certification, preferred.
- Experience using the following equipment:
- Measuring tape, calculator, calipers, micrometers, gauges, AC/DC hi-pot test equipment, motorized vehicles of up to 26,000 GVW; forklift, man lift, tape measure, general hand tools, and general office equipment (telephone, computer, fax, copier, calculator, etc.)
- Working knowledge of hi-pot testing of electrical equipment.
- Basic understanding of fundamental requirements under OSHA, EPA, and labor law guidelines.
- Basic interpretation of AWS welding codes, IEEE, ANSI, and NEC guidelines.
- Proficient in reading tape measurements, blueprints, and wiring schematics.
- Knowledge of quality control principles and functions.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to read and interpret technical documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, safety regulations, etc.
