Your Role:
The ideal Automation Project Manager is someone passionate and experienced in managing successful relationships, mitigating risk, and building a win-win spirit. The position will work with the Atlas Copco Sales team to determine customer needs, develop value solutions, cultivate a trusted partnership with transparent communications, and be committed to building project management to deliver the customer experience.
You will direct and motivate teams to accomplish all planned activities. The PM will manage the entire workflow from, working with the dedicated HPT to building projects on budget, on time, and to a quality standard, that gives Atlas Copco high levels of satisfaction.
You will be an important member of the team who will aim to be recognized as a strategic partner by the customer. You will develop that partnership by focusing on accuracy, standardization, communication, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
Specific roles:
Lead project teams in the execution of automation projects, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with project plans
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, gain buy-in, and ensure alignment with project objectives
Work with purchasing to evaluate and select automation vendors and technology solutions and cultivate vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle
Review new proposals in conjunction with the proposal manager and sales
Be lead APC contact for pre/post sales activities related to automation when needed for support
Be lead APC for scheduling service for Automation related projects
Be lead APC contact to interact with key customer contacts during onsite Automation demos at Atlas Copco
Work with proposal, engineering, and sales to ensure the automation specifications list is up to date, where applicable, and understood by the APC
Provide technical support and proper product selection for all Atlas Copco products and how best to interface with automation applications when required
Help ensure quality assurance processes for automation solutions meet business requirements and adhere to industry standards and best practices
Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization through automation, and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity
Be on-site at customer facilities to ensure proper installation and/or commissioning is kicked off in accordance with our project process
Other roles in projects:
Develop a working relationship with the RSM and Customer to achieve an understanding of their manufacturing process
Administer project planning and regular project review meetings with Sales and Customer
Provide a primary single contract between the customer and the team
Establish budgets and monitor project cost performance through the entire life cycle
And keep commitments to increase Customer satisfaction
Coordinate activities to ensure project progress maintains schedule, on budget, with high-quality
Prepare project reports or open issue decks for internal departments and Customers
Initialize and monitor all Change Order Revisions
Identify risks associated with projects and communicate plans to handle those risks
Coordinate part tryout, runoff procedures, installation, and post-project reviews
Confer with team members to provide technical support and resolve open issues
To Succeed, You Will Need:
Minimum 8 years of diversified engineering experience and knowledge of General Industry (VI) and Motor Vehicle industry (MVI) segments
3 years experience with Workfront
2 years experience working with remote project teams
Experience in reading and understanding technical drawings
5 years of Project Management experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
PMI Certification is recommended
