Atlanta Botanical Garden Inc is Hiring a Jr. Graphic Designer Near Atlanta, GA

Description

POSITION: Jr. Graphic Designer 

FLSA: Exempt 

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

REPORTS TO: Senior Graphic Designer

In consideration of the safety of our employees and guests, The Atlanta Botanical Garden requires that all new hires be fully vaccinated to accept an offer of employment. Documentation of vaccination will be required. The Atlanta Botanical Garden complies with all ADA and EEO regulations.

Reporting to the Sr. Graphic Designer in the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Marketing Department, the Graphic Designer is part of a creative team responsible for the design and production of a wide variety of print collateral, digital advertising and signage for the Garden’s exhibitions, events and programs. The Graphic Designer works with the Garden’s creative team to produce hundreds of pieces each year that engage, inspire and communicate with our audiences, while supporting the Garden’s strong brand, graphic standards and visual identity. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, update and produce marketing collateral. The Graphic Designer is responsible for the design and production of a wide variety of projects, including advertising for print, outdoor, digital and other media; membership, donor and special event invitations; wayfinding and promotional signage; brochures; member / donor mailings; maps; brochures; educational material; email templates; and direct mail.
  • Print production management. With supervision, this position works directly with print vendors to ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget and reflect the quality and brand standards of the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
  • Photography and videography. The Graphic Designer supports the Marketing Department in building a photo and video database of the Garden’s plant collections, venues, projects, programs and special events, including photography and videography of Garden events (may include some nights and weekends). This includes the organization and cataloging of media. 
  • Other duties as assigned. This position may be required to support Garden-wide marketing initiatives as determined by the Design and Communications Manager and VP of Marketing.

Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus and night vision. The employee must be able to take directional cues directly or indirectly.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop (design and photo editing), InDesign, Illustrator (illustration experience preferred) with particular focus on print production, including working with large format media
  • Familiarity with photography, videography, production and editing is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively under tight deadlines. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Required Experience

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Art, Illustration or related field
  • 1-3 years professional experience in graphic design with an emphasis on print production, agency experience or multi-client freelance experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with pre-press production and print vendors, including knowledge of various substrates, materials and mechanical requirements
  • Robust portfolio of professional work including graphic design for print and web
