Location: Williston, VT, USA Revision Date: 02/04/2022 POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Title New Product Development Specialist Department: New Product Development Team Job Type (Choose one): X Full Time __Part Time Job Status(Choose one): _Regular __Temporary X_Salaried Exempt __Salaried Non-Exempt __Hourly General Scope of Responsibilities: Research and develop polymeric materials and blends through systematic experimentation aimed toward developing improved products for our internal and external customers. Provide technical support and perform testing for company’s products. Analyze new and competitive materials. Specific Responsibilities:
Work closely with product managers and manufacturing to identify research & development projects and priorities to meet the needs of AstenJohnson.
Plan and conduct projects that will strengthen AstenJohnson technical knowledge of plastic materials, contribute to the development of new products and build AstenJohnson Filaments’ processing and product capabilities.
Develop new tests and test procedures; assist in the implementation of incorporating those tests into standard quality testing.
Analyze published data relevant to our product and verify critical data by in house testing, characterize competitive samples and utilize advanced statistical tools; generate technical data for customer presentations, establish procedures, and modify processing procedures as needed.
Produce product samples on the NPD Pilot line.
Collaborate with outside testing facilities, universities, suppliers and customers.
Monitor industry trends and new technology, create innovative solutions to shape digital manufacturing business
Performs other responsibilities related to job duties as assigned.

Education/ Working Knowledge:
Bachelor, Masters or PhD degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
Strong knowledge of polymer materials and manufacturing processes, i.e. polymer extrusion, desirable
Experience in processing and quality control testing of synthetic materials desirable
Lean and Six Sigma certification or experience is an asset
Knowledge and experience with Industry 4.0 and digital transformation in manufacturing is an asset
