Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Coordinator to join our team. The Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of the purchasing process, from identifying suppliers to ensuring timely delivery of goods. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and researching potential suppliers for raw materials, components, equipment, and services required for manufacturing operations.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Generating purchase orders based on requisitions from different departments, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials and components, forecasting demand, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
  • Negotiating prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and conditions, while also considering quality and delivery requirements.
  • Assessing potential suppliers based on criteria such as quality, reliability, cost, and service levels, and making recommendations for supplier selection.
  • Collaborating with production, quality assurance, logistics, and other departments to ensure alignment of purchasing activities with production schedules and quality standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and other procurement-related documentation, and ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks related to supply chain disruptions, such as shortages, price fluctuations, quality issues, and geopolitical factors.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements within the purchasing function, and implementing best practices and tools to optimize procurement processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to procurement, including ethical sourcing practices, environmental sustainability, and supplier diversity initiatives.
  • Generating reports and conducting analysis on purchasing activities, supplier performance, spending trends, and other key metrics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with procurement software or ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to procurement and supply chain management.
Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field and 2 years of experience in purchasing OR 5 years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit/stand at a desk, and in meetings as needed
  • Walking throughout the manufacturing facility and office area
  • Ability to wear safety shoes, safety glasses and earplugs while in manufacturing area
  • Occasional lifting of 5-7lbs
