Associated Wholesale Grocers is Hiring a Shipping Manager Near Oklahoma, OK

SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities within a specific shift in the distribution center to ensure productivity, safety, expenses, and budgetary goals are met, inventory is properly maintained and accurate, and deliveries to member stores are accurate and timely. This position's basic purpose is to use all available resources to assist the warehouse to continuous growth and financial success. Schedule: Day shift, Monday-Friday. **Please note, this is a safety sensitive position.**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual must have the ability to perform the responsibilities listed below. The list is not all inclusive of duties that may be requested by the department head or a member of upper management but are intended for an understanding of the purpose of the position. It is the responsibility of each individual at AWG to provide ultimate customer service to our members to support their efforts in increasing same store sales and profits.

1. Ensure the productive, timely and quality shipment or receiving of all products to member stores.

2. Increase production and effectively utilize the work force to maximize efficiency and reduce warehouse operating expenses.

3. Direct the placement of the work force responding to the changing needs during the shift.

4. Coordinate activities between departments and shifts for optimum efficiency.

5. Train and develop supervisors in all aspects of warehousing within the department and shift.

6. Provide an atmosphere of open and honest communications and a positive working environment.

7. Enforce and educate concerning company safety, sanitation, security and standards of operation.

8. Reduce safety risks and minimize exposure by working with team to insure all safety policies and practices are followed. Conduct audits, train employees, make inspections and observations, praise and acknowledge good safe practices, manage work related injuries to minimize loss and conduct complete accident investigations on all incidents.

9. Administer disciplinary action per divisional policies and procedures.

10. Oversee the resolution of employee complaints or grievances to facilitate a proper resolution.

11. Conduct pre-shift meetings with team to communicate daily goals, member needs, safety issues and problem areas that need to be addressed.

12. Conduct and monitor disciplinary steps taken by warehouse supervision to insure proper steps are followed.

13. Communicate to the Warehouse Operations Manager any of the problem areas, improvements, etc., regarding the warehouse center’s operation.

14. Ensure that state, federal and AWG safety, sanitation, and governmental policies, laws and regulations are maintained and adhered to.

15. Work as a member of the AWG team so the total job responsibilities are met. Actions must always stress a sense of cooperation, integrity, tact and consideration with our members, associates and division management.

16. This position requires strong communication and computer skills with the ability to use and learn new technology. Management will be kept informed on planning, analysis, work performed and results. All records required by management must be complete, accurate and submitted on time.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Degree or equivalent; or two to three years of supervisory experience in a grocery warehouse; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License. Operation of warehouse mobile equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and taste or smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the job duties, the employee is occasionally or frequently exposed to extreme cold in the coolers or freezer. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
