ASHEBORO CITY SCHOOLS is Hiring an IT Support Specialist Near Asheboro, NC

The IT Support Specialist supports technical activities of the Systems Analyst and the Technology Department. This work includes repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology-related systems. This employee aids the Systems Analyst in maintaining the operation and integrity of local area networks, file servers, and workstations. The technician understands and utilizes tools to monitor and maintain efficiency and security of local area network standards and has a basic understanding of policies. Employee may perform work in designated computer repair area under supervision or independently at various school sites. This employee reports to the Chief Information Officer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Uses a ticket-tracking system to respond to the daily work orders of the school district.

Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment.

Performs computer hardware repairs in-house.

Performs setups of new technology-related equipment.

Helps manage user accounts on various platforms.

Uses an online inventory system to track technology-related equipment.

Supports school-identified personnel who are first points of contact.

Performs the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals.

Responsible for the resolution of escalated issues of higher difficulty.

Performs the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals for the Central Office.

Assists with the configuration and installation of network equipment such as switches, access points, and other related peripherals under the supervision of the Systems Analyst.

Assists in the development and implementation of staff training materials or technical support documents.

Participates in ongoing professional learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and professional skills.

Reviews repair requests, determines extent of needed service, and exercises considerable judgment in continuing with the service or forwarding extensive requests to supervisor. 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs related work as assigned. 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or related industry certifications.

Understanding of computer, mechanical, and electronic principles as applied to the repair and maintenance of computers and related equipment.
