ASHE Society is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Near Santa Ana, CA

As a Human Resources Specialist with a focus on payroll and benefits, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing and administering comprehensive benefits programs for employees. Working closely with the HR team and department managers, you will assist in onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and HR administration tasks. Your primary goal will be to ensure smooth and efficient HR operations while providing excellent support to employees and management.

Roles & Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely using payroll software.
  • Calculate and enter payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, and taxes.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Coordinate open enrollment periods, including communication with employees, enrollment processing, and benefits plan changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, eligibility, and enrollment.
  • Conduct regular audits of benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance with plan requirements.

Onboarding:

  • Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding processes, including preparing paperwork, coordinating training, and facilitating introductions.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain HR records and databases, including employee files, HRIS systems, and reports.
  • Process HR transactions, such as employee changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Prepare reports and analyze HR data to support decision-making and compliance efforts.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in resolving employee issues and conflicts, escalating more complex matters to HR management as needed.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition programs, team-building activities, and employee surveys.

Compliance and Policy Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Update employee handbooks and other HR-related documents to reflect changes in laws or company policies.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.

Training and Development:

  • Assist in coordinating training programs and initiatives, including scheduling, logistics, and tracking attendance.
  • Support the performance management process by assisting with goal setting, performance reviews, and employee development plans.

Special Projects:

  • Assist with special HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys, and HR technology implementations.
  • Collaborate with HR team members on cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (Preferred).
  • Proven experience working in human resources roles, preferably within the cannabis industry or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto) and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs and experience with benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Passion for promoting a positive work culture and supporting employee development and engagement.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
