Armada Hoffler Properties is Hiring a Safety Manager - GA Near Roswell, GA

Job Summary : This position reports directly to the Corporate Safety Director and will provide Armada Hoffler Construction Company (AHCC) with full-time safety and health services and administration for multiple construction projects in and around the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area. This position will be responsible for carrying out safety and health functions in accordance with Armada Hoffler’s Safety Program. Additionally, this position must promote and instill Armada Hoffler’s values into the workplace.

Specific Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with AHCC project teams, and subcontractors to identify and mitigate hazardous working conditions and unsafe behaviors in order to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel working on our projects.
  • Lead AHCC project teams and subcontractors to ensure projects follow all AHCC Safety Requirements, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding EHS matters.
  • Monitor the arrival of new personnel on projects in order to ensure all personnel receive site specific safety orientation.
  • Review and make recommendations on all safety related project submittals including safety plans, safety data sheets, and job hazard analysis to ensure they meet the requirement of the AHCC Safety Program and OSHA.
  • Attend all monthly project safety huddles and weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and provide a safety leadership presence, while addressing and ongoing safety issues on the project.
  • Conduct special safety meetings or training sessions as needed for AHCC project teams and subcontractors in order to ensure the highest level of safety awareness and training for our project teams and partners.
  • Coordinate the investigation and reporting of all incidents and ensure every effort is made to eliminate a repeat of the incident.
  • Provide project teams assistance with the supply, inspection, and accountability of personal protective equipment for AHCC personnel and visitors to the site.
  • Review EHS related documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures and implement appropriate corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure that all signs and postings are established and maintained on site in accordance with AHCC and OSHA requirements.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise all project emergency preparedness and response efforts including assignments, procuring equipment and supplies, staffing and training to ensure the highest level of preparedness for each project.
  • Work collaboratively with AHCC project teams and subcontractors to ensure adequate safeguards are in place in order to protect the environment, this includes ensuring a site-specific Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC) is in place and all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained on site.
  • Accompany federal, state, local authorities or insurance personnel on all EHS related inspections or walk throughs. Coordinate the immediate correction of any issues identified. Assist in preparing any written appeals for any citations issued during these activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Construction, Environmental, or similar from a four-year college or university; however, combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of safety experience with a Commercial General Contractor.
  • CSP, ASP, CHST or other Safety related designation preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certified.
  • First Aid AED/CPR certified.
  • OSHA Hazwoper 40 Hour certified.
  • Experience and training crane operations, rigging, fall protection, trench and excavation safety, scaffolds, and heavy equipment safety required.
  • Ability to write professional reports, business correspondence and technical procedures.
  • Solid record keeping, and organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office as well as the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dead-line driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate and influence AHCC Project Teams and Subcontractor personnel at all levels of an organization.
  • [JE2] Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
  • Ability to develop and present site-specific safety training to address ongoing or developing safety hazards.

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job will require use of hands to fingers with the ability to handle, or feel objects, sit, talk and hear. It will require the employee to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus quickly on objects at various distances.

It will require the employee to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work from a project or field office; however, will also work in outside conditions in all seasons and will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, sudden changes in temperatures and weather, loud noise, slippery surfaces, tight work spaces, high elevations, fumes, odors and heavy equipment. Employee must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screens.

Travel is required to various project sites; therefore, employee should have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and comply with Armada Hoffler's Driver Qualification Policy.
