Human Resources Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Manager, in collaboration with the VP of Human Resources, is responsible for managing all aspects of ACHE’s human resources department including general institutional planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop sound relevant HR policies and programs that support the values, goals and the mission of ACHE; and effectively communicate these policies and programs to the college.
  • Manages the operations of the Human Resources Department including employment and staffing, employee relations, retention, salary and benefits administration.
  • HR policy development, EEO, compliance with state and federal employment laws, staff training and development, staff performance management, and human resources information systems (HRIS).
  • Leads fact finding investigations for complaints of harassment or other policy violations involving faculty and staff.
  • Manages and reviews leave requests, including Family Medical Leave, to be in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Manages and reviews ADA accommodation requests to be in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Works to assure excellent employee relations and makes recommendations to senior administration for change when necessary.
  • Provide HR expertise and support to department/division heads to assist in their attainment of departmental goals.
  • Advise executive administration regarding HR issues that affect general institutional planning and administration.
  • Plans, designs, and manages the structure of the Human Resources Department, and sets priorities for delivering services effectively.
  • Advises and monitors the college’s employment practices with regard to advancing diversity and preventing discrimination.
  • Manages HR vendors such as payroll and 401(k) providers.
  • Fosters atmosphere of partnership/team with and among the department’s constituencies; staff, faculty, department heads and administration.
  • Facilitates recruitment of staff and faculty.
  • Participates in the assessment or evaluation of candidates and provides feedback to management, staff and faculty.
  • Oversee the maintenance of employee personnel files and all HR files to assure accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Attend webinars, conferences and participate in activities to maintain knowledge of current laws pertaining to Human Resources' and best practices.
  • Stays up to date on changing legal compliance affecting Human Resources and ongoing government reporting.
  • Advance the prestige of ACHE through advancement of and advocation for its mission and vision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Five (5) years demonstrated leadership and management experience in Human Resources, including employee relations, recruitment, benefits, and payroll functions.
  • Experience in maintaining highly confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten (10) years demonstrated leadership and management experience in Human Resources
  • Previous HR/Payroll experience at an accredited college, health profession college or medical school
  • Demonstrated leadership in the development of a Human Resources department.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of sound Human Resources policies and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a depth of knowledge and skill in the area of employee relations, staff development, and dispute resolution.
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate employees, management and peers.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, organizational skills, delegation skills, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors and support staff.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work as a group leader and group member, team player.
  • Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance.
  • Provide service to the college community and students through serving on ACHE and department committees, providing leadership, mentorship and participating in community outreach events and participating in professional organizational or groups as assigned.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the college in fulfilling its mission through administrative duties and community service and/or perform special duties as assigned.

Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include, but not limited to pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboards, telephone, etc.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • May require significant travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the college setting.
  • Frequently required to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Frequently required to see for purposes of reading material.
  • Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Occasionally required to lift items in a normal office environment.
  • Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment.
