Job Overview 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer that currently lives within the New York City area with a strong background in data center or service provider environments. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Arista OEM hardware, proven experience in crafting low-level designs, and robust automation skills using Ansible and/or Python scripting. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and a hands-on approach to support our network infrastructure.
Job Details:
Role: Sr. Network Engineer with Arista, Datacenter and Python skills
Location: New York City (50% remote 50% onsite at various DC's in the NYC area)
Contract Duration: 12 Months at 40 hours per week
Visa Status: Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder (No 3rd Parties or H1B's)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage complex data center and service provider network architectures, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain low-level design documentation that includes network diagrams, configurations, and guidelines.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Arista networking equipment and solutions to meet business and technical requirements.
• Automate network operations and processes using Ansible playbooks and Python scripts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network requirements for new projects and initiatives.
• Perform network capacity planning, performance tuning, and monitoring to ensure optimal network performance.
• Lead the evaluation and integration of new technologies, hardware, and software into the existing environment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff.
• Manage network security policies and procedures, including firewall configurations, VPN setups, and access controls.
• Conduct regular network assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering with a focus on data centers or service providers.
• Deep understanding of networking principles and protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN, etc.).
• Expertise in Arista OEM hardware and software solutions.
• Proficient in network automation tools and scripting languages, particularly Ansible and Python.
• Strong experience in designing and implementing low-level network designs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects under tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of network security best practices and technologies.
• Certification in relevant fields (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, Arista ACE) is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
