About Us: 

At Arbor, we are developing a scalable and low-cost approach to Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) based on modern rocket engine technology. BiCRS is a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) approach that uses biomass to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere and store it permanently underground, while ensuring food security, rural livelihoods, and biodiversity are not affected. Our team brings together a deep passion for science, technology, community, and strategy required to make low-cost, high-quality carbon removal a reality. Our modular technology leverages compact gasification, oxy-combustion with a supercritical CO₂ cycle, and high-pressure turbo-expansion to convert abundant forestry waste biomass into clean electricity, water, and high-purity CO2, capturing and sequestering all emissions from the process. 

Two years into our journey we: assembled a world-class team of engineers and scientists, raised over $30M from top deeptech investors, pre-sold our first 2000 tons of carbon removal, and are designing our first plant to demonstrate our novel technology capable of generating carbon-negative energy.

This Role: 

We are an early stage company looking to do huge things. We are looking for an Executive Assistant and Office manager to help the CEO and team’s world run smoothly. This includes learning our work and our world, and helping the CEO prioritize what’s important. We are looking for someone who can step into an environment with very few business processes in place, and set up systems and processes that create a strong foundation for our team as we grow. We are looking for someone who can see the incredible team here at Arbor, and the important work being done, and always see ways to make it better. And most importantly, we are looking for someone who cares just as much about our mission as we do.

What you will do

  • Support the office environment and manage all office needs including vendor relationships, utility management, managing outsourced IT, ordering and stocking of supplies, and overall maintenance of the space.
  • Inbox management and calendaring for the executive team, always looking around corners, anticipating needs and balancing incoming requests. This includes planning travel logistics, internal and external meetings and other appointments from time to time.
  • Coordinate material prep for use in meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, etc. Occasionally attend meetings to take notes and follow up on action items.
  • Develop a system of tracking and reconciling expenses, deploy and manage it across the organization.
  • Plan and execute on cultural initiatives, organizing events that encourage team building, interaction, and positive collaboration.
  • Assist with HR tasks such as onboarding new hires, managing employee records, and coordinating employee benefits.
  • Create and manage processes that will help us scale, and assist the Chief Operating Officer on special impact projects as needed.
Who you are
  • You have 5 years of working experience as an admin in an office environment. Experience managing executive inboxes and calendars alongside other administrative tasks and functions is a must. Experience doing so in an early stage startup environment is ideal. Experience in the climate or ESG space, or in hardware manufacturing environments is a “nice to have” but we will also take passion for our mission in lieu of direct experience.
  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented — you don't just care about the little things, you obsess over them. You notice when something isn't quite right and you take initiative to fix it.
  • You prefer autonomy but are willing to ask questions and act on feedback.
  • You exercise outstanding judgment in prioritizing and managing matters in a way that reflects the priorities and style of the people you support.
  • You're a professional, collaborative, and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • You're an exceptional owner — you see a problem, you solve it.
  • You love working with people! You have high EQ and can balance holding people accountable while maintaining a good rapport with them. You're comfortable standing up to senior leaders to protect your executive's time.
  • You thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments. You make order out of chaos.
  • You have excellent professional discretion and are comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information.
