Title: Events Manager
Reports to: Director of Development Operations
Location: Boston, MA

The Events Manager (EM) is responsible for planning, organizing and executing events designed to advance donor and prospects’ relationship to AMC. The EM provides essential support for all events on the annual Development event calendar, including outdoor excursions, receptions, semi-annual Board of Advisors meetings, house parties, and special events. The Development event program supports AMC’s overall fundraising strategies by engaging doors, prospects, and Board members in the work of the organization. The EM helps advance AMC’s relationships and represents the organization to these audiences and other partners.
The EM also leads strategic planning of event priorities, manages the event planning calendar, and supports departmental strategy development. They ensure engagement tracking and analysis through accurate record keeping in the constituent relationship management software (Salesforce and Marketing Cloud). The EM ensures the effective coordination of organization-wide events in service of greater donor engagement and visibility.
Desired Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic event professional. The EM will be an excellent project manager with strong writing and organizational skills, experience with event planning, and ability to handle competing priorities and manage multiple projects concurrently that are at different points in their respective timelines. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM database preferred. Must have polished customer service orientation, be at ease interacting with high net worth individuals, and have strong interpersonal skills. Must have exceptional attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team is important.
The ideal candidate’s qualifications would include:
- Two to three years of comparable level event planning experience.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating and planning stewardship and cultivation events.
- Experience working in fundraising and interacting with high-level donors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Accuracy and proficiency with donor databases, with the ability to learn and retain complex data entry and report procedures and systems. Familiarity with Salesforce a plus.
- Strong interest in outdoor recreation and a willingness to be trained in outdoor leadership skills. Interest in environmental/conservation, outdoor education, and policy issues a plus.
- This position requires coordination and possible participation in 6-8 overnight trips annually, often to backcountry locations requiring ability to ski, snowshoe, or hike comfortably up to 7 miles in difficult terrain in all weather conditions, carrying loads of up to 20 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license.
