The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role within the company, providing finance and accounting support to the Operations Team while reporting directly to the Operational Controller. This person will be responsible for all facets of cost accounting and inventory financial management.
Essential Duties:
Financial Analysis and Controls:

• Know and understand the business and ensure accurate standards (financial and operational) are being maintained at all times. Analyzing, on a timely basis, variances to these standards is critical in order to take action for improving operations and correcting deficiencies within the business.

Financial Statements:

• Ensure division's monthly financial statements are prepared timely in accordance with GAAP
• Compare actual results with operating plans and budgets. Review and interpret the results of operations for management and with aleadership team
• Identify and communicate corrective action plans to address variances.

Standard Costs:

• Continuously review actual job costs for Work-In-Process (WIP). Where appropriate review invoices to determine the appropriateness of the work performed and prices charged by the vendor. Identify variances and regularly review with Controller and the leadership team with the purpose of developing corrective actions
• Make all necessary changes to standard costs and document the methodology used in arriving at the standards for future reference and update
• Review with the Controller and General Manager the standard costs, including changes as a result of subcontractor and material cost increases including identifying the impact on profitability and any necessary pricing actions

Pricing:

• Maintain all division price books and retail cost breakdowns while following the parameters of the Centers of Excellence
• Conduct ongoing analysis of pricing changes to ensure profitability targets are being achieved
• Ensure all selling discounts are approved. Where periodic promotions are implemented ensure that the division is achieving short-term sales and profit objectives
• Review marginal income trends at sale, clear and upon pool completion to ensure margin profitability targets are being attained
• Track the pricing and sale of accessory items to determine if the division is achieving its target (revenues and profits) for these items.

Warehouse/Inventory:

• Ensure the Division's Warehouse function is processing inventory receipts and relief on a timely basis to ensure perpetual inventory is accurate at all times
• Ensure compliance with procedures (including appropriate forms) to most efficiently process the receiving, storing, relieving and costing of inventory
• Coordinate and oversee cycle counts and periodic physical inventories
• Monitor and ensure proper security measures to protect inventory from theft

Operational Audit and Analyses:

• Ensure all areas of the business involving significant financial implications have proper financial and general management controls.
• A senior accountant must assist the Controller & General Manager in tracking and monitoring the operations of the business in order to avoid surprises and maximize the effectiveness of actions planned or in process.

Supervisory/ Management Requirements:
Directly or indirectly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Interviewing, hiring, and mentoring management-level staff within assigned region
• Holding 1:1 PIC meetings with all direct reports on a routine basis
• Providing constructive and timely performance evaluations of all direct reports
• Handling discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required, accounting strongly preferred or Finance.
• 3-5 years' related accounting experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
• 2-3 years' experiencein supporting operational business partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel, strongly preferred. ERP system and standard costing experience preferred.
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
