Antelope Valley Hospital is Hiring a Biomedical Technician - Biomedical - Full time/Days - Req#1980029659 Near Lancaster, CA

Job Objective:

The Biomedical Technician works independently under the supervision of the Director of Engineering Services, directs the maintenance and inspection of all medical equipment.

Essential Duties:

  • Tests and repairs biomedical equipment and makes sure all new and repaired instruments are properly inspected before they are put into service
  • Provides effective routine periodic inspections of equipment, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment
  • Makes scheduled inspections and tests necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements and documents this activity
  • Provides emergency service for biomedical equipment

Non-Essential Duties :

  • Maintains and updates the inventory of biomedical equipment
  • Maintains a reasonable perpetual inventory of replacement parts and standby equipment to minimize delay in service
  • Recommends to the Director of Engineering Services replacement and acquisition of test instruments and equipment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices and procedures, methods, tools, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment as generally acquired through completion of college level study in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of types of medical equipment available and the supply procedures for acquisition
  • Ability to locate and analyzing medical equipment problems
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to use testers, tools, and materials involved in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment
  • Ability to adhere with AVH Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy
  • Ability to adhere with AVH Leaves of Absence Policy
  • Ability to adhere with AVH Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy
  • Ability to adhere with AVH Recording of Hours Worked Policy
  • Ability to adhere to the department dress code

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient, hospital and department information
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations
  • Safely and effectively uses all equipment necessary to carry out duties
  • Ability to interpret and function under hospital and department policies and procedures
  • Conforms with required and appropriate JCAHO requirements
  • Conforms with and supports hospital quality assurance and improvement guidelines
  • Ability to participate effectively in department and hospital staff education
  • Display a willingness to work as a team player
  • Ability to give and support the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction at all times
  • Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVH Board of Directors
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Corporate Compliance rules and regulations, complies with duty to report behavior standards, demonstrates understanding of purpose for Corporate Compliance hotline and importance of seeking guidance from a supervisor when in doubt regarding a possible Corporate Compliance issue
