Description

Club Description: 

Ansley Golf Club is a recognized Platinum Club Top 150 Country Club with two locations, in Midtown Atlanta and in Roswell, just north of the city. The Midtown course is a unique 9 holes course that allows members the opportunity to a full round of 18 due to the clever course configuration. Our Roswell course, fondly known as Settindown, is a championship level course designed by Bob Cupp, that is both challenging and beautiful. In addition, the Roswell location boasts a Short Course of 4 holes, 10.5-acre golf practice facility along with an indoor teaching center with two bays. In September 2024, The Club will embark on a $13.1 million renovation to the Settindown golf course. This year-long project will consist of new greens, bunkers, an irrigation system, new grassing on greens and fairways along with some design changes. Ansley has a wide array of amenities that complement the golf experience including 8 hydro grid tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, fitness center, swimming complex, and multiple dining areas in the two clubhouses. The Club has a total of 1600 member families with 1075 having full golf privileges. There are 50,000 rounds of golf played annually between the two courses and a vibrant tournament schedule for both men and women add to the outstanding golf experience. 

Position Summary:

The Director of Golf oversees all golf operation activities including the golf shops, merchandising, outside golf services, tournaments, golf instruction while practicing the Ansley Core Values of Collaboration, Graciousness, Trustworthy, and Passionate. The Club’s culture embodies the mutual respect between members and staff along with intra-departmental collaboration. He/she must realize their role in providing the Ansley Experience and will strive to deliver an exceptional level of personalized service to the membership, their families, and guest while ensuring the best interest and policies of the Club are met and exceeded. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

The Director of Golf role demands a dynamic polished leader that fosters positive relationships and interacts at the highest level within the membership and staff while representing Ansley Golf Club with the utmost standards of service, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Oversees the management and performance of all golf shop operations, services, and programs, assuring high standards and total member satisfaction
  • Manage the employment activities for applicable staff member, including but not limited to personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, and discipline. 
  • Oversee and manage the golf operations staff.
  • Ensures the quality of the member golf experience.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute the annual business plan including the operating and capital budgets.
  • Oversees a robust $1.3 million merchandise operation including the purchasing strategies, inventory control, and presentation. Develops purchasing strategies that are consistent with member demographics and needs.
  • Develops and oversees golf instruction, clinics, academies, and player development programs. 
  • Organize and execute an innovative and active tournament schedule that services all segments of the membership.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Agronomy and his staff on golf operation activities.
  • Plays golf as time permits with a variety of member groups and skill levels 
  • Enforces all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
  • Coordinates plans with Food and Beverage staff for all food and beverage needs for regular play, tournaments, outings, and special golf events. 
  • Oversees and enforces the procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory, and resources.
  • Ensures that all written correspondence, reporting, newsletter, and communications for the golf operations is completed on a timely basis. 
  • Participants in Golf Committee meetings, annual Board/Staff Retreat, and weekly senior leadership meetings.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • All candidates must be Class “A” member in good standing with the PGA of America
  • Must have at least 5 years as a Head Golf Professional or Director of Golf
  • A college degree from an accredited university or college is preferred
  • Multi-course operations leadership experience is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated and proven experience in budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management. 
  • Demonstrated and strong command of written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills
  • Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations
  • Experienced and can apply the latest technology in all applications of the golf operation. 
  • Proficient in point-of-sale software, Microsoft word, Excel, Golf Genius, etc. 
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including evenings/weekends/holidays. 
  • Positive attitude; professional manner and appearance in all situations
  • Must have a fundamental knowledge of the game of golf including golf rules, golf facility operations, and tournament operations. 
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, both manner and appearance with a positive attitude in all situations 

Compensation and Benefits: 

Ansley Golf Club will offer a very competitive compensation package commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The Director of Golf is a salaried, Exempt, Full-time position with benefits including:
