Job Description

This role is primarily responsible for overseeing, leading, and implementing Lurie Children's SAMHSA Navigator 3-year project Reaching Every Adolescent in Chicago through Harm reduction (REACH). REACH intends to 1) decrease the incidence of opioid related overdoses and fatalities in Chicago area youth 16-25, 2) increase local capacity to identify Chicagoans 16-25 in need of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) treatment and recovery support services, and 3) strengthen access to SUD/COD treatment and recovery supports for Chicagoans 16-25. The Program Coordinator, Sr. is responsible for onsite and community-based day-to-day implementation of the project, coordination with project partners, communication with SAMSHA Project Officer, and regularly reporting outcomes. This position will require collaboration with partners within and external to the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide guidance as needed to team members on Community Programs team, as well as other staff working on their projects, such as Evaluation team members.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Adolescent Medicine and community partners.
  • Provide operational support to Adolescent Medicine Community Programs, including meeting planning and facilitation, maintaining all project materials, and tracking and reporting project activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all community program databases Generate reports containing program outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take initiative to identify quality improvement needs as they arise.
  • Support grant writing, grant application submissions, and grant reporting Coordinate and facilitate internal and external education sessions, trainings, and/or professional development related to assigned projects Collaborate with Adolescent Medicine Leadership throughout the Division Support strategic planning initiatives for Community Programs and the Division at large.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in community/public health, education, social work or related field OR five years of experience in positions similar to the functions of this role.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management required; experience in community engagement, education, youth development, or similar field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on complex projects.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with experts and the general public about data and research Commitment to social justice, evidence-based policy and practices, data-driven advocacy and community-driven processes.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Strong working knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office software applications and database technologies.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Experience independently planning and managing projects; ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes on short notice Willingness to travel to different locations, neighborhoods, and communities through Chicago (via public transportation or personal vehicle).
