Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Chicago, IL

Founded in 1979 as a non-profit 501 (c) (6) organization, the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) is a construction advocacy, training, and membership organization. With over 300 members, HACIA provides a range of technical and supportive services to assist minority, women, veteran, and disadvantaged business enterprises (M/W/V/DBE) in addition to workforce development training in the construction and professional services industries. HACIA believes that all qualified construction businesses and individuals should have equal access to opportunities and education; and, therein, strives to build diversity and inclusion that strengthens the industry. HACIA’s mission focuses on ensuring the equitable participation of its members and inclusion of diverse business practices in the construction industry, while also promoting growth, quality of work, professionalism, and integrity.

Position Summary: The Program Coordinator will provide program management support for HACIA’s training program. This individual will assist Program Managers to fulfill HACIA’s contractual business capacity and workforce programming obligations, including site visits, coordinating recruitment activities, communicating with stakeholders and participants, assisting with data tracking for reports and other compliance related tasks. This individual will report directly to the Program Manager and provide additional administrative support as needed or directed. As a construction trades association, it is required that Program Coordinator work interact with HACIA’s membership and work/attend events geared towards membership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Follows outreach and recruitment plan set by Program Managers, with the goal of maximizing participation of programs. 

· Researches and conducts outreach to community services, colleges, other partner organizations, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites to identify potential program participants.

· Establish recruiting requirements for training participants.

· Build a robust pipeline of prospective training participants.

· Presents program information, opportunities, and benefits.

· In coordination with the Program Manager, assist with application intakes, schedule and conduct applicant interviews, track participation and progress.

· Arranges applicants interviews by coordinating schedules.

· Gathers and prepares required documents and information for reports and invoice submittals as detailed in the agreement between the organization and the client.

· Builds and maintains rapport with program participants and provides assistance to training participants as needed.

· Ensures that deliverables are being made. 

· Is knowledgeable about HACIA U programs and other training opportunities to share with participants.

· Communicates and meets with HACIA members, outside companies and vendors and other key stakeholders.

· Other key relationships will need to be managed and developed including with HACIA Members, the business community at large and other related business organizations.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Problem Solving – Develops alternative solutions. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Identifies problems in a timely manner. Resolves problems in early stages. Works well in group problem solving situations.

Quality – Applies Feedback to improve performance. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Displays commitment to excellence. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Monitors own work to ensure quality.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field from four-year college or university with minimum two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in MS Office particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Other Required Qualifications include the following:

· Preference working in a non-profit office or similar environment.

· Experience in economic development, working with small businesses, or workforce training is a plus, but not required.

· General understanding of the construction industry is a plus but not required.

· Experience working with adult learners in need of job placement or small businesses is preferred.

· High level of organizational skills.

· Ability to work alone and prioritize within a team environment.

· Utilize considerable judgment and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.

· Excellent project management and communication skills.

· Self-driven, highly motivated energetic and familiarity working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

· Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

· Customer service orientated; experience in dealing with businesses is preferred.

· Proficiency with Microsoft-based computer applications is required.

· Excellent phone and interviewing skills for program recruiting.

· High level of professionalism and ability to utilize discretion when needed.

· An automobile and valid driver’s license is a plus, as travel throughout the greater Chicagoland area is required.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is generally a normal office environment but there may be occasions that require travel throughout the city and greater Chicagoland area..

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time. Will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel as well as reach with hands or arms most of the time. Prolonged periods of moving around event spaces/meeting locations during various events and meetings to prepare, organize, set up event spaces, and to network/build relationships with HACIA members as well as potential hiring partners.
