We are a high-end furniture showroom looking for an Assistant Warehouse Manager to coordinate all duties of the warehouse department. These include but are not limited to improving safety and quality, reducing costs, and maximizing the department’s effectiveness, coordinating communication among and between Warehouse Operations, Procurement and Sales Departments. The Assistant Warehouse Manager manages hourly employees in assigned areas, provides appropriate training and development, and ensures consistent rollout of warehouse policies & procedures.

In This Role

• Supervise day-to-day activities of assigned department
• Provide guidance and training to hourly workforce to ensure picking, receiving and quality goals are met
• Meet picking and receiving schedules as well as inventory control and accuracy
• Drive cost-saving initiatives to improve performance and cost of the warehouse operation
• Assist with driving LEAN activities to improve performance
• Maintain positive employee relations, open communications while resolving employee discipline or performance issues
• Maintain professional relationships with other departments within operation and corporate office
• Identify, recommend, develop and implement improvements in safety, quality, processes, costs and SOP documentation
• Secure the facilities when leaving for the day
• Ensure the facility is clean and all safety programs are being followed
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to Warehouse Manager immediately
• Conduct stand-up meetings at the beginning of each shift to review past performances and workload for current day

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of distribution/warehouse supervisory experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience in warehouse distribution required
• Understanding of warehouse management and logistical procedures
• Proficient knowledge of inventory and inventory controls
• Valid driver's license
• Intermediate PC skills with knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, ability to learn new software and systems
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
• Organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to coach, train, mentor, and lead by example
• Experience and ability to create & maintain various management reports.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must maintain a professional personal appearance
• Able to Maintain productivity and efficiency in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Identify items on all paperwork including, but not limited to: customer orders and labels, manifest documents, packing lists, stock receipts, and bill of ladings as needed
• Operate manual and electric material handling equipment, such as hand trucks, forklifts and order pickers

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to safely operate material handling equipment as needed, including but not limited to forklift
• Ability to work in warehouse environment on concrete flooring and in varying temperatures
• Ability to assemble furniture
• Ability to move or lift objects (including medium to large furniture items up to 75 pounds) from a lower to a higher position or horizontally from position-to-position
• Lift 50 lbs repeatedly through the course of the day without assistance; and maneuver and lift up to 225 lbs repeatedly with assistance

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience of handling, unloading, loading, moving, wrapping, and storing of & decor
• Forklift experience/certification
• A college degree
• Bi-lingual – English & Spanish
• Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft 365 skills

• Compensation: $50k-60k/year, DOE
• Working hours M-F 9 am – 5 pm, occasionally work flexible hours when needed to meet deadlines including evenings and weekends.
