Anacortes Christ the King Church is Hiring an Executive Pastor Near Anacortes, WA

Position Summary

Anacortes Christ the King is a growing church looking for an Executive Pastor to help manage growth, to support the Lead Pastor, and to shepherd the staff and congregation. In this role, you will operate as “second‐in‐responsibility” in a partnership model with the Lead Pastor to provide leadership to the staff and congregation to enable Anacortes Christ the King to carry out its mission in accordance to vision and values. The Executive Pastor will focus on overseeing key areas of staff and ministry, ensuring effective organizational systems, managing church finances with Council and Finance team, overseeing operations, engaging in pastoral ministry and helping to create practical pathways of spiritual formation, discipleship and leadership development.

Requirements:

The Executive pastor must:

· Have an evident relationship with Jesus Christ, pursuing a passionate, growing, personal relationship/apprenticeship with Him.

· Possess a deep understanding of Christian Orthodoxy, actively engaging in personal and communal growth in alignment with Anacortes Christ the King’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

· Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making, utilizing critical and strategic thinking with attention to detail.

· Exhibit strong communication skills, engaging effectively with individuals and groups to foster collaboration and understanding.

· Cultivates a culture of continual learning and growth, embracing opportunities for personal development and spiritual formation within the faith community.

· Become a member of Anacortes Christ the King and an active participant in a Community Group.

· Become a non-voting member of the council, finance team, and any special project teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

Staff & Congregation:

· Partner with the Lead Pastor to develop and carry out Anacortes Christ the King’s Mission, Vision, & Values by offering support and strategic insight.

· Take direction and help oversee and care for the spiritual well‐being of the Anacortes Christ the King Church staff and congregation.

· Provide weekly spiritual shepherding through Sunday worship in a variety of functions.

· Expect to preach and deliver sermons on a quarterly basis.

· Help plan and execute special services: Easter, Ash Wednesday, Christmas, baby dedications, baptisms, funerals, marriages and other events as they arise.

· Cultivate a culture of leadership development through the staff and entire congregation.

· Pursue professional development and ongoing educational growth as it supports the responsibilities of this role.

· Other limited duties connected to pastoral‐specific care and leadership as delegated by the Lead Pastor.

HR & Operations

· Supervise key staff positions through individual meetings, including the honing of job descriptions, evaluations, and development of staff.

· Participate in the process of hiring new employees.

· Generate the annual budget with the Lead Pastor, Finance team, and church Treasurer for approval of the Council. Monitor the budget, balance sheet and present financial status to the annual membership meeting.

· Manage facilities (including supervising key facility staff) and short or long‐term facility improvements.

· Manage special projects in coordination with the Lead Pastor.

Ministry

· Develop ministry infrastructure supporting CTK’s mission.

· Monitor and evaluate the health of key ministries.

· Coordinate with key volunteer‐led ministries and their respective leaders.

· Maintain an ongoing connection with the broader church of Anacortes.

· Other limited duties connected to church administration as delegated by the Lead Pastor.

Professional Experience and Qualifications

· 3-5 Years of experience preferred

· Has a background working with finance and budgets

· Experience in developing staff

· Speaking/preaching experience preferred

· Experience in working with Church leadership

· Technical capability and proficiency

· Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills

· Strong Communication skills

· Must have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus

Salary & Benefits:

· Full-Time Salary

· $70,000-$120,000 based on experience

· Paid-time off
