Summary The Human Resources Benefits Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, administering, and maintaining benefits and wellness programs, policies, and procedures to support Ames employees. Duties and Responsibilities Participate in the Benefits Committee strategy planning sessions by providing recommendations for benefit improvements including plan design and vendor changes. Execute the health benefit and wellness program strategic plan approved by the Committee. Administer health benefits (self-insured medical, pharmacy, dental, vision and disability plans) including eligibility, new benefit offerings, enrollment, compliance, life events, and terminations. Ensure employees receive proper advice and counsel regarding benefits-related issues. Create a communication campaign to increase employee education on health benefits including the benefits newsletter. Lead open enrollment activities by communicating changes, educating employees, and distributing materials for open enrollment, benefits orientations and other programs. Coordinate with vendors to manage FMLA, short and long-term disability, and unpaid leave. Partner with the benefits broker to evaluate existing benefits programs against competitors to determine competitiveness, trends, and developments. Review and manages benefit plan documents/contract revisions and retention, 5500s, summary plan description/summary of benefits and coverages revisions and dissemination, and other plan documentation requirements to ensure compliance and that correct information is maintained. Ensure legal compliance of benefits administration processes and procedures. Oversee benefits administration system set up, enrollment, and reporting. Communicate timely with employees and various departments when there are any changes to their benefits. Partner with the benefits broker and vendors for reports, questions or concerns, and regularly provide feedback to improve the employee experience. Provide timely and accurate benefit reporting for internal and external partners. Other duties as assigned. Experience, Education & Skills Ten years of experience administering health and wellness benefits. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related. PHR or CEBS certification preferred. Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee and benefits. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Demonstrated problem solving skills and strong analytical skills. Ability to handle issues both strategically and tactically. Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to develop working relationships with all levels of the organization. Working knowledge of benefits administration systems. Working Conditions Location - This role will be full time in the Burnsville, MN corporate office. Office Environment - Extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
