American Track is Hiring a Railroad Construction Superintendent Near Houston, TX

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Superintendent ensure projects are delivered successfully and on time. Collaborates with engineers and subcontractors to define projects needs and oversee staff performance. Follow quality standards and ensues the safety and security of the construction site.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Enforce safety and quality control policies among employees and subcontractors to ensure the project runs smoothly and on schedule
  2. Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
  3. Set performance goals and deadlines
  4. Plan construction processes
  5. Maintain a daily diary of all activities and site conditions and manage the punch list and closeout process for the job
  6. Supervise staff and provide constructive feedback
  7. Monitor and report on project progress
  8. Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities
  9. Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance
  10. Keep track of material stock and orders
  11. Ensure the hob site safe, clean, and orderly
  12. Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
  13. Comply with company and federal rules, policies, and procedures – wear required safety equipment, respond to and act on safety concerns.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience as a construction superintendent in heavy civil industry
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • Must have a great attitude and the ability to motivate team members on site
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Accountability and integrity are essential as the decisions made in the role affect countless others
  • Willing to work in the elements in all weather conditions (extreme hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.)
  • Recognize, avoid, and report potential hazards

  • Willing to submit to a background check
  • Must pass all required assessments/trainings
  • Willing and able to travel to various job sites, including those that require overnight stay and those that require short notice mobilization
  • Available to work full-time (40hrs/wk.) subject to overtime, on-call (24/7), alternating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • High School diploma or equivalent

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
