We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Program Manager-Hybrid (EDB AMAF Accelerator, Grant Funded) on our Medical Education team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As a Program Manager-Hybrid (EDB AMAF Accelerator, Grant Funded), you will be responsible for managing activities to drive and support the AMA inoperationalizing health and racial equity in medical education as assigned onan AMA Foundation grant funded health equity accelerator project to address thechanges to admissions practices to medical school because of the SCOTUSdecision on affirmative action. The role will work closely with colleagues in MedicalEducation (MedEd), across several AMA business units (especially the Center forHealth Equity) to facilitate and monitor the progress grant activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development and Management
  • Development and oversee project/program management of the AMA Foundation grant funded to accelerate health equity by addressing the changes to admissions practices to medical school because of the SCOTUS decision on affirmative action using principles of restorative justice as one approach.
  • Provide support to efforts to build collaborations with minoritized physician organizations (NMA, NHMA, AAIP, NCAPIP, GLMA) and minoritized student organizations (NMSA, LMSA, ANAMS, etc.).
  • Work with the Director of EDB in MedEd in collaboration with the CHE director of Restorative Justice and other team members in the development of projects related to the AMAF Accelerator grant.
  • Responsible for meeting facilitation, project/program planning and logistics
  • Develop and follow a defined process for project development and execution which includes, assembling project teams, task coordination, and issue management.
  • Deliver project tasks on time, with high quality and ensure that deliverables/milestones are met.
  • Identify barriers to a project's execution and potential solutions; coordinate activities with other teams internal and external collaborators, as applicable and adhere to the budget.
  • Manage external consultants working with AMA staff, including managing communications, monitoring contract deliverables and invoices.
Program Evaluation
  • In partnership with the Director, manage all program evaluation, including evaluation and monitoring of key benchmarks and overall progress of programs and initiatives within and outside the business unit, including those that are externally facing - or work with externally contracted evaluator when contract is executed.
  • Collaborate in the planning and administration of survey distribution and data collection and the progress of programs and initiatives over time.
Relationship Management
  • Identify internal/external collaborators and foster opportunities to collaborate in efforts to support grant related activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external organizations and key collaborators and/or relevant stakeholders.Define the project responsibilities, project activities and deliverables for collaborative work with external entities, as appropriate.
May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
1.Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
2.Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in program management required.
3.Demonstrated experience in health and racial equity, consulting with, and/or the facilitation of diverse groups required.
4.Demonstrated experience with operational planning, budget planning, implementation and evaluation of multiple, complex projects including, convening project teams, organizing multi-faceted project plans, managing towards established timelines and project deliverables required.
5.Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from different disciplines and backgrounds, contributing as a team member; self-motivated and a strong individual contributor required.
6.Strong writing skills required, especially in the ability to conceptualize issues, synthesize a response and write/develop reports required.
7.Strong presentation and public speaking skills required, including experience presenting and facilitating in a large group setting preferred.
8.Some travel may be required.
