The American Gem Society (AGS) is seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Data Analyst. As a Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making and business growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret complex datasets, uncover insights, and provide actionable recommendations.
Responsible for managing and analyzing data within the organization's various databases which include our AMS and LMS systems. This role involves ensuring database integrity, system testing and documentation of processes and procedures, security, and efficient operation while extracting valuable insights from data while working closely with all organization departments.
Specific responsibilities include:
· Collect, analyze, and interpret datasets from various sources including AMS and other spreadsheets to identify trends, patterns, and key insights.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data analysis solutions.
· Design and create visually appealing reports and dashboards using Excel, incorporating charts, graphs, and pivot tables to communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner.
· Continuously monitor data quality and identify opportunities for data cleansing and improvement.
· Conduct ad hoc analysis and deep dives into specific business areas to uncover opportunities, address challenges, and support decision-making processes.
· Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting efficiency.
· Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data analysis, reporting, and visualization techniques.
· Responds to telephone and electronic inquiries from current and prospective members as needed.

Competencies:
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, functions, pivot tables, and data visualization techniques.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
· Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with large datasets while maintaining accuracy.
· Experience in creating reports and dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
· Ability to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through data validation, cleansing, and quality control processes. Knowledge of data profiling, data cleansing techniques, and data quality assessment methodologies.
· Solid understanding of database concepts and SQL proficiency is preferred but not required.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
· Self-motivated and proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required
Experience:
· 2-3 years of recent data analysis or related experience required

Our regular work schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. We also offer a hybrid schedule. Additional hours may be required with this position.
