Job Overview

The successful Quality Manager will support, maintain and improve all aspects of the Quality Management System at American Friction Welding 

Responsibilities and Duties

•  Ensures that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented and maintained. Goal is to insure continued registration and continuous improvement to the QMS. Includes but not limited to Audit activities. 
• Reports to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement.
•  Ensures the promotion of awareness and adherence of customer requirements throughout the organization 
•  Prepare and oversee the preparation of PPAP documentation, ISIR and other project launch documentation.
• Help devise, implement, monitor and assess overall continuous improvement initiatives by utilizing SPC or other methods such as corrective action activities. These initiatives may be outside the traditional “quality assurance” responsibilities.
• Coordinate disposition of NCM. Work with customers and suppliers on re-work as per agreements. Inform management of quantities scraped and quantity of parts put in stock. Collect and analyze data on product non-conformances and customer returns in order to help identify trends and root causes. Recommend and perhaps implement initiatives to reduce and eliminate the negative cost impact of those trends and root causes as in but not limited to Corrective Action activities. 
• Coordinate and complete inspection activities. Inspect incoming material as needed to ensure that AFW & customer quality requirements are being met. Final inspect products being shipped to American Friction Welding’s customers. Verifying that operation are completed and all applicable signoffs are complete. Customer quality requirements are being documented and complied with. Assist with in-process inspection and verifying that it is properly done and documented.

Skills & Requirements 

•  5 plus years’ experience in Quality Management. 
•  Working a knowledge of ISO standards, statistical process control, AQL inspections 
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have good communication skills 
•  Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), able to read blueprints and use measuring gauges. Working knowledge of GD&T. Be computer savvy. 
• Must have organizational skills. Have attention to detail. 
• Physical able to lift and be able to move freely about the Plant.
