This position oversees the Political Action Department’s PEOPLE (fundraising) program. PEOPLE is AFSCME’s Political Action Committee, funded by voluntary contributions from AFSCME members and their families. The Assistant Director is responsible for development, implementation and management of programs, strategies, and processes to grow member participation in PEOPLE. Works directly with AFSCME staff, affiliate leaders, affiliate staff and members on a regular basis in an effort to promote participation in the fundraising program. This position also helps oversee AFSCME’s federal endorsement process and includes extensive work directly with candidates, campaigns, and affiliates regarding the AFSCME endorsement process and PAC contribution strategy. The Assistant Director is responsible for preparing materials, briefings and campaign plans that support the Program; represents AFSCME at conferences, trainings, local meetings for the purpose of promoting the program; and develops the fundraising efforts at AFSCME’s convention every two years. Coordinates data systems to report contribution processing, compliance reporting and other tracking.
