American Association of Advertising Agencies, Inc is Hiring a Director, Agency HR & Talent Solutions Near New York, NY

Position Overview

Are you looking for a role that does not fit the mold of a traditional HR Business Partner, yet requires all the skills of one? If the answer is ‘yes’, then we have your dream job. We are seeking a Human Resources generalist to become the Director of Member HR & Talent Solutions to join the Talent, Equity & Learning Solutions team at the 4A’s. In this unique role, you will not be responsible for an employee base, nor will you be responsible for managing internal HR matters. Rather, in this pivotal role for the 4A’s you will be consulting and advising our 600 agency members on all aspects of the talent lifecycle, HR generalist functions, processes, benefits and legal policies. Your job will be to guide them through their evolving human resources and talent needs with expert guidance and support.

Qualities essential to thrive in this role:

  • Agency experience
  • Broad HR generalist roles
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and consultative skills
  • Confidence in your ability and knowledge of HR
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Attention to detail and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Collaborative as well as ability to work autonomously

About You:

  • You can work both efficiently and effectively and do not view them as trade-offs. You understand when things require precision and accuracy.
  • You thrive on being developed and challenged. You communicate effectively both in written form and at a moment’s notice – you exhibit agility when responding to tough questions and can pivot as needed.
  • You check your ego at the door. You are interested in finding the right answer for the business vs. always having the right answer.

Career Opportunities and impact for the person taking on this role:

  • Advance your HR knowledge and experience in talent lifecycle, HR generalist functions, processes, benefits and legal policies.
  • Influence HR process, policies and the employee experience with 600 member agencies.
  • Build trusted relationships with leading Talent and HR professionals in the Advertising industry.
  • Develop consultative HR skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative support to members across the entire talent lifecycle - talent planning, role scoping, recruiting, onboarding, career pathing, training and mentorship, ongoing coaching and feedback, calibration and compensation, retention and mobility and off-boarding. Critically, your role will be to help guide members to ensure they are able to accomplish their objectives with greater confidence and consistency and pursue even more ambitious goals.
  • Be the go-to trusted resource for members as it relates to their relationship with the 4A’s regarding HR and Talent support.
  • Guide members as they make decisions that will impact their people.
  • Proactively assess opportunities for the 4A’s to deepen the relationship with members through the 4A’s services including but not limited to:
    • 4A’s Learning Institute
    • Diversity access and development
    • Partnership opportunities
  • Lead and manage Regional HR Committees, with support from regional 4A's Member Engagement & Development representatives to foster community and engagement in and outside of meetings.
    • Set up and manage committee meetings, develop agendas, identify speakers- when appropriate - and share relevant learnings, resources and content from across the 4A's (generally held quarterly/four regions).
  • Partner with EVP Talent, Equity & Learning Solutions to manage and coordinate the national Chief Talent & People Officer Committee.
  • Partner with the 4A’s Member Engagement & Development, Business Intelligence & Insight and Government Relations teams to support communication of 4A’s activities related to HR and labor related legal shifts and respond to member queries; provide perspective on 4A’s surveys and input into development of relevant surveys (e.g. Benefits).
  • Provide support to members on HR policies, benefits, practices and employment law.
  • Play an active role in the collection and compiling of members’ employee handbooks, policies, job descriptions and translate findings to share across membership.
