Alto Pharmacy is Hiring a Vice President, Principal Accounting Officer Near Dallas, TX

Alto is seeking a dynamic Vice President, Principal Accounting Officer to lead our financial reporting, SEC, general ledger accounting, payroll, tax, treasury and accounts payable teams. The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional who can provide strategic leadership in accounting and accounting operations, implement and streamline processes, and implement controls to mitigate risk. This role requires a proactive leader with strong team management experience, a high bar for performance, and a sense of urgency in implementing and maintaining effective controls and risk assessment processes.

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the accounting function, aligning with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate and optimize the team structure to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability. 
  • Establish performance KPIs and goals
  • Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis teams on month-end variance reporting and explaining variances from prior periods and versus forecast 
  • Collaborate to support Company objectives and provide Accounting leadership and expertise to high impact cross-functional projects.

Controls and Risk Management:

  • Implement and continually optimize robust workflows and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and compliance within the finance team.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Oversee Accounting Operations including Accounts Payable and Payroll
  • Collaborate with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process.
  • Oversee Accounting systems, drive automation and efficiency in systems and processes

A Bit About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is required.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role in an inventory-heavy company, pharmacy industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of public company financial reporting requirements and SEC regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and compliance best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing team structures and implementing strategic financial initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines and addressing issues.
  • Self-starter with a passion for solving problems, continuous improvement and successful in using technology and data to achieve superior results
  • Previous experience in a public company environment, ensuring adherence to SEC reporting requirements, GAAP standards, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Significant technical accounting experience at a Big-5 firm (e.g., Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC.)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
  • Experience with ERP, Payroll, Purchasing systems.
    • SageIntacct, Coupa, ADP, and NetSuite a plus
  • Track record of successfully leading and mentoring high-performing finance teams.

Additional Physical Job Requirements

  • Read English, comprehend, and follow simple oral and written instructions.   • Frequent repeating motions required to operate a computer that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work: Sitting most of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Walking & standing are required occasionally. 

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $200,000 - $300,000

*Please note this range is specific to employees in the market listed on this posting. Salary ranges for remote candidates working outside of this market can be subject to regionalized compensation based on their respective work location.

Commission Eligible: No

Equity Eligible: Yes

Travel: Yes. Up to 25% of the time.

Location Requirement: Employment at Alto is limited to individuals residing in the following states: Washington, California, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, and New York.

Employment Requirement: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. At this time, Alto is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
