MICROSOFT SYSTEMS ENGINEER ALTA IT Services has a direct hire opening for a Microsoft Systems Engineer to support a trusted provider of infrastructure solutions to US federal government customers. This is an onsite position based in the Arlington, VA area. An active Top Secret or Secret clearance is strongly desired; OR the ability to be cleared up to the Top Secret level. US citizens who are eligible to obtain a DOD security clearance are encouraged to apply. POSITION OVERVIEW The systems engineer will join a team responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise systems for a Technical Surveillance Countermeasures business unit. This position will be responsible for managing operations of systems which includes tasks such as research, development, deployment and maintenance. Design and deployment of network infrastructure. Ability to analyze computer and network architectures to optimize performance, security, and laboratory testing. Excellent oral and writing communication skills are needed to document testing procedures, test results, deployment recommendations, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), manuals, and security documentation. As part of a collaborative environment the applicant will work with other teams or program on a regular basis. Ability to troubleshoot a variety of hardware and software issues in a timely manner while under tight time and resource constraints. Travel Requirement: 5-10% to OCONUS and CONUS locations
Requirements/Qualifications:
Preferred: Top Secret or Secret Clearance. US Citizenship with clearance eligibility is acceptable
Education: Bachelor of Science – Computer Science or related degree
Preferred Master’s Degree – Computer Science EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 10 Years of Experience in the industry for BS Degree
• Minimum 5 Years of Experience in the industry for MS Degree
• Experience in software engineering, networks, information technology, and/or information systems
• Must have experience in the following: configuring, designing, and maintaining Window servers; designing, configuring, and testing personal computer and network software components in a laboratory environment; programming software and command line interfaces; and setting up patch management software and backup management solutions.
• Must have experience with commercial and government best practices in securing computers, networks, and mobile devices. Must know how to use all major MS Windows applications.
• Must understand system architecture, application design, and device management and deployment. Must have knowledge of active directory application mode, lightweight directory access protocol, and online certificate status protocol.
• Must have knowledge of bandwidth utilization.
• Proficient in the following:
o Operating Systems: Windows – Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Workstations Linux – Ubuntu or Debian
o Relational Databases such as: MySQL or SQL
o Writing Documentation for Software/Hardware Lifecycle tracking/development
o Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the lab and the field
o Designing, implementing, maintaining, and administering computer networks
• Prefer some experience with:
o Prefer to have a Cisco Certified Network Associate or similar certification(s)
o Agile Development
o Web Interface/Service design and implementation [SOAP/Restful Service over TLS]
o Device Operating Systems: Blackberry, Android, iOS
o Programming Languages: C/C , .Net, OpenGL, Java
o Equipment: Wireless Communications such as: Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or ZWave Software Defined Radios (SDR) Microcontrollers such as: Raspberry Pi or Arduino Platforms Internet of Things (IOT) devices
SALARY RANGE: $150,000 to $160,000 annually with competitive benefits package, including moderate tuition reimbursement
