Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and financial support to the office. They will ensure that all bookkeeping needs of the organization are met and review financial statements for errors, making necessary adjustments as required. The ideal candidate will use software to input data into various financial documents such as the company's profit and loss statement, in addition to performing certain clerical duties.

American Lighting and Signalization (ALS) provides street lighting and traffic signalization construction, maintenance, and emergency response services in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. Our major customers include state departments of transportation (DOTs), investor-owned and municipal utilities, commercial retail land developments, and commercial road contractors.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Handle day-to-day accounting processes to drive financial accuracy
• Preparing monthly financial statements and recording journal entries
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation to facilitate accounting and filing functions
• Processing credit card payments and reconciled credit card statements
• Reducing financial discrepancies
• Reducing errors in account reconciliation through meticulous attention to detail and thorough review of transactions
• Creating detailed expense reports to facilitate reimbursement for business expenses
• Completing payroll functions to facilitate accurate and prompt staff payments
• Assisting with accounting projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Good computer skills with a knowledge of common bookkeeping and spreadsheet programs
• Math skills
• Teamwork skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Associate's Degree required
• 1 to 2 years of industry-related experience preferred

Pre-Screen

License & Certifications:

• Driver License Preferred, but not required.
