The Alpha Academy program is a small nonprofit mentorship program that has operated since 1994. In the past, we have served around 8-12 men in our residential program per year. We are searching to hire someone to help innovate and relaunch the program. We are seeking someone with the creativity and drive to create a program that will provide an essential resource to the San Luis Obispo community. The program's mission is mentoring and providing structure for students to find community, confidence, passion, motivation, hope, joy, and faith. You can learn more about the program on our website.

Role and Responsibilities

• Supervise the Alpha Academy House Leaders, students, and volunteers during your shifts
• Lead group classes that teach the lessons of Alpha Academy
• Coordinate outings, service opportunities, and trips for the Alpha Academy students
• Coordinate with volunteer mentors about the individuals they’re mentoring
• Mentor the Alpha Academy House Leaders and the residents of the Omega program on a weekly basis
• Check-in with program alumni on a regular basis
• Keep accurate records in our database

Qualifications and Education Requirements

This person needs to have hands-on experience/education in most of these areas:

• relating to people ages 18-25 years old
• financial literacy
• coordinating/communicating with teams
• discernment in how to wisely help young people
• discussing spirituality with students
• lead group meetings/lessons
• Able to navigate Google Drive, task management programs, and online databases
• Strong communication skills: both writing and verbal
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience with mentoring is preferred.

Additional Notes

• 40 hours per week required. Days and times can be flexible.
• Some evenings and weekends may be required.
• 15 days of paid time off per year (for personal and/or sick)
• 4 paid holidays (4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years)

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
