Casa Pacifica is Hiring a Clinician I, IOP Program Near Santa Maria, CA

Wage band range $66,560.00 to $79,000.00 however, it is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. The position may qualify for bilingual pay incentive.

Under the direction of the Clinical Program Manager and Assistant Director, is responsible for planning and implementing the Santa Maria Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) by conducting group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy. Additionally, this position will be providing one-to-one therapeutic contact with clients referred to Casa Pacifica through Anthem Blue Cross, among other duties as assigned by the Clinical Program Manager.

The Clinician carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it relates to individualized behavioral and therapeutic interventions as needed at a child's home, school, office, or other community settings. Available to support Santa Barbara County’s community programs (Wraparound, SAFTY, School Based Program) by taking assigned cases as assigned by the Director, when available.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):

  • Supports with facilitating IOP groups including but not limited to; DBT, experiential/recreation, social skills.
  • Participates in the initial authorization and reauthorization process for IOP and In-home clients, including completing required paperwork and consulting with required parties.
  • Participates in the implementation of one-to-one and/or family therapeutic and behavioral interventions for children as needed at home, school, office, or other community-based settings in accordance with the treatment plan or program model. Interventions are directed to support their emotional and behavioral success and are included but are not limited to: social skills training, individual and group therapy, Skill building, anger management, anxiety reduction, communication skills, feeling identification, parenting techniques etc.
  • Works with the licensed Clinician II/Clinical Supervisor in completing a mental health assessment, including a mental status exam, risk and protective factors, a comprehensive history, specific goals, and a DSM-5 diagnosis when needed.
  • Participates as a member of the child's treatment team and works closely with all treatment team members regarding matters pertaining to all as outlined in the Treatment Plan.
  • Can assists in teaching the parent, caregivers, teacher, treatment team members and other significant support persons in the client’s life the strategies and skills in order to help the client meet their goals.
  • Maintains an active client caseload of 15-25 visits a week.
  • Meets a minimum productivity rate of 50%.
  • Attends weekly Case Supervision and bi-weekly individual supervision.
  • Adheres to the legal and ethical requirements of the mental health profession as outlined in the code of ethics and as deemed necessary by the agency.
  • Maintains organized progress notes for each client contact; submitting notes in a timely manner by the deadline.
  • Keeps the Clinical Manager, parents, treatment team members, and all necessary others apprised of the progress of child. Facilitates decisions that are collaborative and include all treatment team members.
  • Maintains effective lines of communication with the Clinical Team and Program Management in regard to program needs.
  • Attends and participates in appropriate staff training programs; attends outside training events and conferences as requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA regulations in all matters within the organization with respect to personnel, operations and children.
  • May perform any other additional duties as assigned; including but not limited case coverage for other specialists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years’ experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children/ adolescents; Master's degree (enrolled or completed), required. Ability to complete mental health assessments and implement therapeutic and behavior management techniques. Must be in practicum/traineeship or have an active registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology as an APCC, AMFT, ASW, LPCC, LMFT, LCWS, Registered/Waivered Psychologist.

CREDENTIALS:Community First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, Mandated reporting.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have good working understanding of child and adolescent development, behavior management, and family dynamics. Must have aptitude to deal with severely emotionally disturbed children/adolescents in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to use various computer software (Microsoft, Office, Windows, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. Strong human relations skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Flexibility, time management skills and self-motivation required.
  • Valid California Driver's License with excellent driving record. Use of personal car required; mileage reimbursement. Must have proof of insurance. Must maintain a positive driving record; reports tickets and driving points to the Director as they occur. Abides by Casa Pacifica travel policy.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
