TITLE: Prevention Activity Facilitator
DEPARTMENT: Prevention & Intervention
PRIMARY FUNDING: LA County Probation Department 
POSITION STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: GRYD Prevention Program Manager
SALARY RANGE: Job Group VI
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: 
ACE’s Prevention Program: ACE’s Prevention program serves youth, ages 10-15, who are gang affected, otherwise at risk of gang involvement, or system involvement. Utilizing a comprehensive approach, participants and their families engage in programming that lead to social-emotional development, that strengthen participants' family ties, increase protective factors and promote other pro-social influences.
Position: The Prevention Activity Facilitator position is responsible for providing services to participants and their families enrolled in ACE’s Prevention program. This position is primarily responsible for the development, coordination, preparation and facilitation of After-School activities for youth in the Prevention program (ages 10-15). This position will also facilitate transportation to and from after school activities on a rotating basis. 
Hours: Part- Time 20 hours/week 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM Monday - Friday, Weekends as needed

  • Possesses the technical and software skills to perform the duties of the position (including Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office)
  • Possesses the interpersonal skills needed to promote a safe, positive, and inclusive professional work environment conducive to effective service delivery; communicates effectively both orally and in writing 
  • Demonstrates cultural competence/cultural humility in community relations and service delivery
  • Is sensitive to community, cultural and personal dignity of program participants and is able to successfully engage, assess, and plan services for participants typical of the program’s target population. 
  • Recognizes appropriate boundaries and limitations on interactions with program participants and their families and the need to maintain professional standards and practices. Is familiar with standard approaches to accurate participant record keeping, including timely charting, notation formats, content limitations, and confidentiality practices
  • Possesses basic knowledge of programs, regulations, and procedures regarding social services.
  • Knowledge of the West San Fernando Valley areas impacted by poverty and violence. 
  • Able to work within West San Fernando Valley, exposing oneself to high-risk areas found within the community.
  • Able to manage emotions and maintain composure in high-stress, crisis situations. 
  • Ability to assess conditions and responsiveness to interventions.
  • Possesses necessary de-escalation skills to provide effective crisis response.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attends and participates in all mandatory meetings
  • Fosters positive relationships with community members and partner organizations
  • Participate in cultural and community building activities/events
  • Works to incorporate into organizational culture best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care 
  • Develops, coordinates, prepares, and facilitates intentional youth development and skills-based workshops for participants
  • Participates in all Prevention community-based events including Saturday Night Lights and Fall Friday Night activities.
  • Plan and coordinate Field trips and provide supervision 
  • Provide program participants safe passage and/or transportation to After School activities and/or field trips
  • Address and hold youth accountable for program expectations through a trauma-informed / restorative approach.
  • Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to provide services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate’s Degree in relevant field and 2 years of experience working with youth; or
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Spanish language skills, verbal and written STRONGLY preferred
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record, reliable transportation (if under 21 years old) & adequate auto insurance. 
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check 
  • Initial TB employment clearance required
The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $25 to $26.44 HOURLY The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
