JOB DESCRIPTION: Manages the special education behavior programs for the school and models how to establish strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families. This position is a visible presence in all areas of the school and is responsible for all issues relating to the behavioral program. To help lead the efforts to build and maintain a strong, positive, and inclusive school culture. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors in Education or Counseling related Degree; 5 years demonstrated experience in teacher and/or counseling. Experiences working with students, parents, and families on Social and Emotional Learning; CPI trained.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish learning objectives, which include the current District guidelines and objectives.
• Provide consistent supervision of classrooms and staff for quality academic programming and assist staff in meeting students’ emotional, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
• Communicate and work alongside staff to provide unique and supportive behavioral interventions to meet students’ cognitive and emotional needs. 
• Maintain proactive measures and provide target interventions supports
• Individual coaching to staff on an as-needed basis to target topics as Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance, Decision-Making, Psychoeducation; Life-Skills, and Transition Planning. 
• Provide quality training that encompasses: (1) Trauma-Informed Care; (2) Positive Behavior Management; (3) Level and Reinforcement system; (4) Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI Model). Frequent training will be reinforced by the on-site identification of barriers and therapeutic options to meet the needs of the students.
• Provide support and assistance with student’s Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) by providing consultation with Social Emotional Goals, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Assist in team-building and creating a productive work environment.
• Determine the appropriate program of study to meet the specific needs of all students.
• Motivate students to maximize their learning potential and ensure that all students have successful experiences.
• Maintain high expectations for all students.
• Maintain appropriate student records and documentation.
• Process disciplinary referrals and communicate with administrators
• Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Adhere to all Board policies and/or rules, Arizona Revised Statutes, and federal regulations pertaining to education.
• Attend staff and in-service meetings, workshops, and school functions as directed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the subject(s) taught.
• Demonstrate professionalism.
• Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
• Transport students, as needed. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: Nine-month position (additional days may be needed), Social Worker/Counselors' salary schedule, and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.

EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
