Alger is Hiring a Systems Administrator Near New York, NY

Job Title: Systems Administrator
Location: New York, NY
Reporting To: SVP, Head of Information Systems
Job Description: The Systems Administrator (SA) will be responsible for troubleshooting the computer and telephone communication networks. The SA will also ensure the smooth operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for their users.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design, install, upgrade, and repair local and wide area network and infrastructure
  • Allocate network resources
  • Develop and install emergency systems to back up the main network server
  • Customize network to meet the demands of the company needs
  • Maintain network facilities including PCs, phone system, printers, file servers
  • Maintain network maps of all sites
  • Control user access and functions
  • Ensure security of stored information
  • Assists in the installation of new hardware and software
  • Monitors employee usage and adherence to company policy
  • Train users on LAN operations and procedures
  • Perform minor equipment repairs
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Network certification preferred
  • 10 or more years of IT experience or equivalent industry training and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of the operation and care of computer and related electronic data processing equipment
  • Understanding of general programming techniques
  • Knowledge of IP Phone configurations (Cisco)
  • Must be able to continually learn new systems and technological developments
  • Able to work overtime as needed
  • Experience with a wide variety of network operating systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Compensation:Base salary anticipated to be $85-95k, plus discretionary bonus and outstanding benefits
