Position Summary:

The medical assistant will prepare patients for treatment, coordinate, and assist with completion of treatment/protocol. The medical assistant will work closely with the treatment coordinator to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Maintain exam rooms, arrange, and prepare examining rooms’ equipment and instruments including stock exam rooms with medical supplies and stock laboratory with lab supplies

-Schedule diagnostic test appointments

-Generate detailed reports and interfaces professionally with outside resources including patients, students, and other professionals.

-Provide administrative and clinical support for health practitioners including taking medical histories, vital signs, blood pressures, prepares patients for exams, and assisting physician/nurse practitioner during exam

-Collect and prepare lab specimens, perform clia waived laboratory tests and dispose of contaminated supplies

-Provide referrals to identified needs related factors affecting health (medical, social, housing, or educational)

-Provide patients with health education materials approved by the Aletheia House

-Updates medical records and medical charting, recordkeeping, typing, insurance filing and other clerical needs to include obtaining medical and social history

-To complete insurance forms, answer phones and schedule appointments

-To perform other duties as directed by the treatment coordinator

Qualifications:

-High School Diploma or equivalent, required

-Certification as a certified medical assistant (CMA) or nursing assistant, required

-Current basic life support certifications, required

-Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, pc applications, and software, required

- General medical office skills, required

-Two years of outpatient experience, preferred

-Must have a valid Driver’s License and good driving record

Travel:

-Travel occasionally

-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation

-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included

Schedule: P/T, Non-Exempt, Monday-Friday 8a-4p. Up to 29 hours per week.
