Job Summary Our Medical Assistants maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and perform patient care services that support the physician's practice.

Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic understanding of medical terminology is required.
Experience in primary care setting preferred.
Computer experience in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.  

Job Duties

• Perform accurate vital sign measurements, using manual and automatic devices
• Identify abnormal patient values for triage purposes
• Report abnormal patient values to appropriate health care providers
• Maintain accurate patient records including recording patient history and reviewing medication list
• Verify patient compliance with testing requirements
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information (PHI)
• Determine chief complaint and properly document patient documentation into EMR
• Administer medications specifically directed by the physician
• Perform EKGs, administer injections, etc.
• Prepare rooms, sterilize instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures
• Prepare patients for examinations or procedures
• Assist with procedures
• Properly handle blood and non-blood specimens
• Relay instructions from the physician to a patient or authorized person as well and document patient concerns and patient messages in the patient’s medical record
• Explain general office procedures to patients
• Manage appointment scheduling and physician’s schedule
• Able to perform under stressful, emotional, or otherwise difficult situations
• Prompt attendance to ensure the clinic operates efficiently
• Perform basic diagnostic and procedural coding
• Basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals for prescribing and treatment purposes
