After School Matters is Hiring a Professional Development Intern Near Chicago, IL

After School Matters provides Chicago high school teens with high quality, after-school and summer opportunities to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills for work, college and beyond. Since 1991, more than 350,000 teens have participated in our hands-on, project-based after-school and summer programs in the arts, communications and leadership, sports and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Programs take place at locations throughout the city including Chicago public high schools, Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library locations, community organizations, downtown at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, in Belmont Cragin at our Michael and Karyn Lutz Center for After School Matters, and in the Pullman community at the new Gately Center for After School Matters. Summary of Position:

This position will work under the supervision of the Director of Learning Communities to support the professional development team with a wide range of projects related to: professional development and event planning.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support with Cityspan attendance for Professional Development, and other programs as needed;
  • Provide support preparing financial summary documents needed for paying vendor invoices;
  • Assist with preparing instructor communications regarding professional development;
  • Conduct site visits alongside the Professional Development Specialist when needed;
  • Collaborate with Finance team to assure instructors, sign language interpreters, and interns are paid;
  • Pull requested supporting documentation;
  • Support logistical needs of the professional development team; including prepping template slides, google forms, and spreadsheets,
  • Assist with ordering and gathering materials for professional developments and events;
  • Facilitate/present materials where necessary;
  • Provide logistical day-of support for Professional Development and Events;
  • Provide logistical support with programs where needed;
  • Support with data entry for professional development;
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Spanish speaking a plus

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary College or University
  • Prior participation in one or more After School Matters programs strongly preferred

Additional Requirements:

Staff are required to provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or have an approved medical or sincerely held religious beliefs exemption prior to starting employment. If a medical or sincerely held religious belief exemption is approved, weekly Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing is required part of any reasonable accommodation.
