SUMMARY: 

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for all activities in the accounts payable function. Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintains accurate records and control reports. Review applicable accounting reports and accounts payable register to ensure accuracy. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.

The company is national, multi-platform media and e-Commerce company providing premium data and authoritative editorial coverage to sports enthusiasts in North America. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Manages Accounts Payable including Customer Vendor Relations, and the AP disbursement group which handles all check disbursements, 1099 and tax related matters for the ERP systems.
• Manages daily and weekly AP activities including entering invoices, coding invoices, making disbursements via check or bank transfers, and responding to vendor/supplier inquiries.
• Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies for accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
• Manages monthly closing for AP and works with accounting staff to reconcile AP to the general ledger.
• Provides assistance to project managers and operations staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.
• Works with external accountants/auditors to meet information needs; ensures that proper information is maintained for historical purposes
• Selects and hires employees for the groups mentioned above. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred, plus a minimum of five years related experience.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong organizational and communication skills required. Proficiency with personal computers and related software preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings.
