Job Summary:
The Product Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the product portfolio they lead with Aegis Sortation. This includes both functional and financial performance, over the complete lifecycle of their products. To be successful in this regard, the Product Manager (PM) will continuously monitor key financial performance metrics for their product(s). In addition, the PM will need to maintain an understanding of the product market, competitive position and the company’s customer base and be able to identify needs and business opportunities therein. The Product Manager will translate these needs and opportunities into new product ideas and strategies and will evaluate them by constructing the customer value proposition and internal business case for each. The Product Manager will also play a key role in leading the New Product Development (NPD) process for new products which will become part of the portfolio they manage.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Market Analysis. Understands the current market including competition, the company’s customer base and related product positioning. Identifies needs and opportunities as well as potential gaps in the product portfolio. Develops customer value propositions for new products ideas, as well as the internal business case including IRR, NPV and ROI (period).
· Innovation. Initiates and drives cross functional and cross-organization product and solution innovation teams. Monitors development of technology and market trends and provides inputs to Research & Development (R&D). Participate in the patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection.
· New Product Development. Works in partnership with engineering to lead the New Product Development (NPD) process. Defines new product requirements including functionality, price, cost, and capital expenditure targets. Develops the customer value proposition for the products, as well as the internal business case. Works with company stakeholders to create a product development plan including scope, cost estimates and schedule. Participates in design reviews, driving modularity and standardization into the product design. Serves as the NPD project manager, coordinating activities and deliverables from the cross-functional development team. Responsible for ensuring all required deliverables are complete and all business functions are ready to produce and support the product prior to launch.
Pricing Strategy. Responsible for product profitability and pricing strategies. Drives the annual business planning process and facilitates agreement between sales demand and supply. Monitors bid activity and sales target fulfilment and takes appropriate action to stay on plan. Develops and maintains a pricing strategy which includes internal product sales / transfers, as well as external sales to distributors, integrators and end users, and which satisfies the demands of competition and the needs of these individual markets. Helps negotiate and manage agreements with key technology partners and suppliers.
Process Development and Training. Continuously develops product management processes and tools, including interfaces to other key functions. Develops application and pricing tools to support the Sales organization. Initiates creation of external and internal product training modules and programs.
Marketing & Communications. Initiates and supports product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation. Works in coordination with Marketing & Sales to ensure the best market strategy and coverage.
Product Lifecycle. Leads the product life cycle management process. Continuously monitors product performance by tracking key financial metrics for their product(s), including but not limited to Sales Revenue, Product Cost, Profit Margin and Market Share. Plans appropriate actions such as product enhancements, cost reductions, part obsolescence and makes decisions regarding end-of life, to ensure current and future market requirements are met and profitability is maximized.
Product Liaison. Serves as the liaison or primary point of contact between ‘the product’ and all parts of the business. Also functions as the interface between the external market and internal business functions (e.g. Sales, Operations, Research & Development, etc.), forecasting volume trends on a regular basis to ensure Operation’s capability to fulfil customer orders. Sets targets and monitors product costs, giving inputs to Operations functions (e.g. Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability. Coordinates activities to resolve product-related issues with the appropriate stakeholders.

Bachelor’s degree or higher with a commercial or technical background
5 – 10 years of experience in product management
